Do you have one of these in your daily life?
Not me?
Don't know?
They did it?
How many people live in your house, work in your office or serve you food?
How many times have you heard someone else screwed the pooch?
That is a phrase often used to describe a mess that created another mess, or so it seems, heard it somewhere and what the heck let's use it here.
I live in a house with one person, albeit a very important person, my spouse, whom I love dearly and pay for it yearly, of which they do the same for
moi. If you ask me a question about something you will get a very direct answer, quickly, witty even, possibly sarcastic, as in captain obvious but
generally speaking tongue in cheek or not, the truth will escape somehow, my truth at least, from my perspective.
There are however certain situations where a question is rhetorical and still elicits a response from the gallery, in this case my spouse, "Honey,
where did you put so and so, or such and such?", I might say out loud as a search continues for whatever has been misplaced, and then from the other
room,"Don't know". Or where the heck did you put this, it was "Not Me"...insert any phrase you care, it is the same. 2 people
living in the house and one knows they did not touch something and that the other did, and the other says it was Not Me.
You do the math, obviously, either I have lost my complete freaking mind, or someone is flat out lying because the consequences of admitting the truth
would result in a walk of shame, never to be lived down. Still, They did it will not work with 2 people, Don't Know or Not Me are
definite culprits in my household.
There are things that are silly and things that have more relevance, perhaps may even be considered important, like a bill needs to be paid, or
groceries need shopping for, or a trip to the drug store may be in order, then the stakes are considerably higher and yet, those suckers Don't
Know and Not Me manage to show up and ruin it all, Damn Them!
Just once I would like to hear these words uttered efficiently and abruptly, I Did IT.
