Over the last few years, I’ve been interested in the black Saturn cube. If anyone here is new to the black Saturn cube it’s basically a cube often
black and shown balancing on its edge. There are monuments of it in various sites throughout the world and it’s shown in movies, music videos and
other media. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of information about the black cube and so it’s very much open to interpretation about what it
represents. It’s my view that the Saturn cube represents a prison. In conversation with a friend, he described the cube by saying: “The cube is a
reference to the synthetic reality that has been imposed on creatures of the physical plane of existence. It’s very much the ‘matrix’ that is
used to bind spirit and consciousness”. I feel that this interpretation of the Saturn cube is apt and fits with how the cube is often portrayed.
In pop-culture, the cube is often portrayed as a prison that humans are trapped inside, sometimes associated with virtual reality and time-loops. For
example, in the movie 2036: Origin Unknown, the protagonist finds themselves trapped in a black cube experiencing a virtual reality time-loop, until
they eventually escape. They only escape the virtual reality after passing a test and becoming more ‘human’. Similarly, in the movie Infinity
Chamber, the protagonist finds themselves trapped in a room (which has been designed to resemble a black cube) and they are also trapped in a
time-loop while experiencing a virtual reality. This idea seems to be reinforced by other TV shows and movies. For example, in the TV show Sherwood,
the black cube is portrayed as a prison that humans reside within which is similar to the cubed-prison in the Marvel Universe, the cubed-prison called
the Glade in the Maze Runner, and of course the prison in The Cube movies.
Another movie that possibly references the Saturn cube is 2001: A Space Odyssey. In this movie, the Monolith was originally designed as a black cube
and was located near Saturn (originally). Considering the fact that the Monolith was originally meant to be a cube I don’t think it’s unreasonable
to suggest an association with the Monolith (near Saturn) and the Saturn cube. One could interpret the end of 2001 as Bowman escaping a virtual
reality and ascending into a higher dimension. This idea may be supported by the name of HAL, who Bowman overcomes before ascending. According to
James Jordan: “Gnostics had a specific term for our capacity to model reality: HAL: Simulation. The Gnostic concept of HAL is close to what we today
understand as virtual reality”. At the end of 2001, after overcoming HAL, Bowman, enters or escapes the Monolith and is transformed. One could
interpret this as Bowman escaping the Saturn cube. Given all these movie references; are they trying to tell us something? Could we ourselves be
trapped within the cube here on Earth?
In some ancient cosmology, Heaven is represented as a circle (or sphere) and the Earth is represented by the square (or cube). This cosmography is
known as “gai tian”. Heaven is traditionally represented in 2-dimensions by the circle (3-dimensions by the sphere) and the Earth is represented
by the square (in 3-dimensions by the cube). Here Heaven refers to the universal principle of consciousness and Earth refers primarily to the
3-dimensional spatial matrix where individual impulses of the spirit are given apparent material forms. In this traditional ancient conception, the
symbol of the cube represents the reality we experience as the material world. This philosophy has also been incorporated into Freemasonry. In
Masonry, the circular Compass (in the Square and Compass) represents Heaven and ‘higher consciousness’ with the Square representing Earth and
‘lower consciousness’.
The black cube is also associated with the horned-deity Baphomet. In 1856, Éliphas Lévi drew the first image of Baphomet that took the form of a
hermaphrodite half-human-half-goat which was adopted by the 1910 Devil Tarot Card. His drawing showed Baphomet perched on top of a black cube. In the
Éliphas-inspired 1910 Devil Tarot Card, two people are shown chained to the black cube, with Baphomet authoritatively perched on top (a modern
version shown below). This carries on with the theme of the black cube being a form of imprisonment. Interestingly the Greco-Roman goddess Agdistis
was a hermaphrodite and her Phrygian counterpart was the goddess Cybele whose name is etymologically connected to the word ‘cube’. This may give a
clue as to Baphomet’s identity. Both Agdistis and Baphomet are hermaphrodites and both are (tangentially) associated with cubes. Agdistis (Cybele)
is assumed by some to be interchangeable with the goddess Isis.
Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar also features a cube that humans reside within. In this movie, the protagonist, Joseph Cooper, enters a worm-hole
near Saturn and finds himself viewing Earth from a higher dimension within a tesseract (which is a 4-dimensional cube) and the inhabitants of Earth
are residing within this 4-dimensional cube and unaware of Cooper’s existence in the higher dimension. Cooper eventually escapes the 4-dimensional
cube (near Saturn) and is transported to a new environment, where reality is radically different to Earth. In this place he sees Monolith-TVs and
within these TVs are the people on Earth that he left behind. In 2001: A Space Odyssey, the Monolith was originally designed as a cube. One could
interpret this as Cooper escaping the Saturn cube and then viewing those on Earth still trapped within it.
Author Alex Rivera talks about the cube in a similar vein, saying: “Tracy Twyman makes a presentation of the universe as revealed by the spirits of
Ouranos and Mithras (supposedly) she was in contact with; it is even more startling and specifically mentions the hypercube symbol [tesseract]
associated with Saturn — a cube within a cube — as the real model of the universe. This somehow also weirdly affirms the infamous “Flat Earth”
model as well. We are in the inner cube while the dead spirits are on the outer cube. Later in the essay, she compares the Tree of Life with the
hypercube, theorizing that perhaps the universe or even “multiverse” (if there is such a thing) conforms to this specific shape. Tracy also
emphasizes the Saturn myths and applies them to the idea of The Matrix”.
So, what do you think about this idea? Could the black Saturn cube be a prison that we reside within?
