He declared a national emergency, and if you watch the news clip of him doing so, he REALLY emphasized that declaration to make it clear.

March 13, 2020

(Forward to the 2:43 minute mark)

"To unleash the full power of the Federal Government..."

In doing so, he activated portions of the Patriot Act and the NDAA.

That gave him authority to nationalize EVERY industry (been saying this for weeks now...sigh) as it pertains to combating the emergency/threat.

There are even more heinous provisions he can use but hasn't yet, hence his statements about who has the "big stick" now.

This is why those two pieces of legislation and all those EO's from Clinton through and up to our current President were so dangerous to our Republic.

Now you wanna complain???

You're wasting your breath.

The Constitution is a legal document. It has no power to enforce its contents.

Glad you had your say.
How does that relate to him ordering businesses to open again?

Still haven't seen anyone post the president is total authority verbatim from the Constitution. No one has sited how the National Security can make the president have total authority. A lot of arguing and name calling. Why don't you admit the president was wrong.

He could have ordered them to manufacture the needed goods but he said " I'd rather not nationalize manufacturing"
He washed his hands of the responsibility then went on a blame rampage when people begged him to do it.
That's the way people who can't handle things go about it.

So they can be open once again as the National Emergency winds down

Fifty shades of national emergency?

It's either a national emergency or its not.
And if it's a national emergency the funds keep rolling.

Well you're certainly welcome to stew on that. My point was where he derives his new found powers that most here are bewildered about.

I don't play that partisan blame game crap.

Read the article.

Roosevelt ordered Stimson to seize the firm’s plants and facilities in New York, Michigan, California, Illinois, Colorado and Oregon. The president said, “Strikes in wartime cannot be condoned, whether they are strikes by workers against their employers or strikes by employers against their government.”

I've shown you 3 examples of Extreme Presidential Power.

I have Lots more.

Still want to play this?

President's have extraordinary powers in Emergencies. Thankfully, they don't have to be used often.

You keep believing otherwise.

I’m just here to laugh at the party of small government bragging about unleashing the full power of the federal government.

In yesterdays coronavirus briefing Trump insisted that he and the federal government have all the power;

"The federal government has absolute power. As to whether I'll use that power, we'll see."

Anyone who doesn't understand that he is talking in context of the Constitution is suffering from TDS.

I'll add that anyone who thinks he's talking in the context of the Constitution has Alzheimer's as it pertains to the Constitution crushing provisions of the Patriot Act, NDAA, and countless EO's over the last thirty odd years.

Trump hasn't used the Big Stick and this whole thread is trying to tell you he doesn't have that stick.

Every President does, given extreme situations.

Having the States and Feds work in concert is how things are supposed to work.

Trump has been one of the most transparent, and investigated (I'm sure they have detailed pictures of the insides of his entire colon) Presidents in history.

If he was truly a megalomaniac with delusions of kingship, we would know.

Time will tell.

I don't trust any of the them regardless of party or policy.

The power resides in We, the People. We, the People, created the Consitution to codify the delegation of WE, THE PEOPLE'S, power. To a government composed of... WE, THE PEOPLE. The Constitution codifies what powers are given/taken from elected officials.

But that is AFTER the People have centralized their collective power into a government. That document has NO POWER unless We, the People, give it power. This is true for the military and government as well (offsprings of Constitution)

This is why we can legally overthrow our own government; their power is DEPENDENT upon us delegating it to them. We give them our power. We can take it away, LEGALLY.

As in the REAL overthrow of a tyrannical government would be done IN A COURTROOM. Not a battlefield. This document was made so Revolutionary Wars aren't required to save the collective from tyrrany.

I believe that this is the reason that US cultural apparatuses promote the People bring divided. We could unite and abolish our government, then create a new one. The military would be bound, BY CONSTITUTIONAL LAW, to echoing our will of abandoning the old structure. After all the military is comprised of... you guessed it; We, the People.

If I'm wrong, correct me. But I don't think I am.
