Politico news release

The FDA has approved limited emergency use of Chloroquine for use against Covid-19. This will at last end the argument as to whether or not this treatment works.
There is a doctor from my hometown of Monroe NY that claims he's had great success using a combination of drugs, including the ages old Chloroquine, a drug used in the prevention and treatment of malaria and used for treating Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.

A French doctor also claims to have had success using it as well as the Chinese. A lot of people are citing flaws in both of those studies but there is almost a faction of people that seem to really want this to fail. If you read the comments after the politico article you'll see what I mean. It seems that since President Trump mentioned this it can't possibly work in some people's minds. There is a true sickness in the USA and it isn't this virus...

Side effects from the drug are possible, seemingly for people with heart problems especially. I think the people that this drug can be treated with probably are those that need a hail Mary anyway... if it were for me, or mine..."Where do I sign?"

It's really late but thought I'd post this before bed so we have some positive possibilities to discuss tomorrow.

I've seen the actual FDA release for this update but I was unable to find it on the FDA website. I have the PDF but can't figure out how to link it.

Just as an aside...I doubt anyone here can think of a time when the FDA moved this fast on anything.
I'd bet the President is all in on this. It also appears that the drug itself is coming from the national stockpile, at least initially. I can't see a big pharma win in this, it's a cheap drug and millions of doses have already been donated. Bayer is one such donor...
Bayer donates 3 million doses

Yes! And people keep using that as evidence of how SCARY this drug is. I remain skeptical but I think it needs to be proven effective, dangerous, or useless NOW.

It works on some people and is saving lives. Some close to death are saying they started feeling better within hours.
There is nothing to be skeptical about. Too many documented recoveries. It's not a vaccine but is helping.

What they drank was not a drug. It was poison.

I'm shocked at how many members peddled that sh1t as evidence that the chloroquine medication was dangerous "because fish tank cleaner".

Ignorance level= 10

Excellent interview on this from a few days ago:

Dr. Vladimir Zev Zelenko - Covid19 Success Trials

"To all medical professionals around the world," Dr. Vladimir (Zev) Zelenko, Board Certified Family Practitioner writes to world health care specialists [Concerning the Covid-19 virus that we are successfully treating in Kiryas Joel and Monsey, New York. "We have had ZERO deaths, ZERO hospitalizations, and ZERO intubations. Additionally, I have not heard of any negative side effects other than approximately 10% of patients with temporary nausea and diarrhea.

"Given the urgency of the situation, I developed the following treatment protocol in the pre-hospital setting and have seen only positive results:

1. Any patient with shortness of breath regardless of age is treated.
2. Any patient in the high-risk category even with just mild symptoms is treated.
3. Young, healthy and low-risk patients even with symptoms are not treated (unless their circumstances change and they fall into category 1 or 2).

"My out-patient treatment regimen is as follows:

1. Hydroxychloroquine 200mg twice a day for 5 days
2. Azithromycin 500mg once a day for 5 days
3. Zinc sulfate 220mg once a day for 5 days

"The rationale for my treatment plan is as follows. I combined the data available from China and South Korea with a recent study published from France (sites available on request). We know that hydroxychloroquine helps Zinc enter the cell. We know that Zinc slows viral replication within the cell. Regarding the use of azithromycin, I postulate it prevents secondary bacterial infections. These three drugs are well known and usually well-tolerated, hence the risk to the patient is low."

With much respect,
Dr. Zev Zelenko
