Musings of the Calling - Current Events - and the Future

We are drawing close to a very special day of the year. It is special because it is the only day the Bible commands Christians to commemorate. That is the day of Christ's death. He himself said, "keep doing this in remembrance of me" referring to the passing of the wine and the bread at the night before his death.

On the Gregorian calendar westerners are used to the new day starting at midnight, 12AM. On the Jewish calendar it started at sundown. Nisan was the first month of the Jewish calendar, it was the month the Jews left Egypt. The Jewish calendar was a lunar one and months usually had 30 days. The first was on new moon, most of the time, half-way through the month, Nisan 14, was the full moon. It was on Nisan 14, 33 C. E. That Jesus died. On Nisan 14, he celebrated Passover (when the Israelites were released from slavery in Egypt, this too occurred on the same date Nisan 14, that Jesus died). Jesus died the following afternoon, on Nisan 14. This year that date on the Jewish calendar is April 7.

When this time of year roles around, the pull of the calling rises within me. It would be hard if impossible to explain to one that has not received the calling. But it is there, it resides within, always. As the date approaches, it seems always the the presence of the holy spirit increases, along with spiritual awareness, holy spirit, and peace.

Many today are worried about what tomorrow will be. And that is logical as mankind is faced with a deadly virus that is spreading right now.

Today many are not spiritual. And thus when faced with crisis they look to man or themselves for hope and protection. And none is afforded they may panic.

I wrote this to try also to help others understand what is happening in context of prophecy, and calm fears and give hope for the future.

Jesus said that one of the signs of the last days would be "pestilence" along with other things such as great earthquakes, and wars, the love of the greater number cooling off, etc. The Spanish flu was a sign of the last days, "pestilence" along with other devastating diseases, diabetes, AIDS, cancer, to name a few. Matthew 24 1-14.

In Revelation there are what are many coin the "4 horsemen of the Apocalypse in chapter 6. These God allows to be let lose upon mankind that wreak havoc on it throughout the last days. Included is a red horse symbolizing warfare. WWI, WWII, and all the other wars since have been the fulfillment of that horse riding. We also have the black horse that brings famine with it. And the pale horse that has "death" following it. It reaps all the dead from the red horse of warfare, the black horse of famine, and its own plagues on mankind, from deadly plagues and earthquakes.

So current events, including this new virus is but a sign of the times. But the word Apocalypse really should not be a frightening word. It really means an unveiling or revealing. That is why it is translated "revelation."

Because it seems ominous and there are bad things that happens during the unveiling of the roles of the prophecy many conclude it is all frightening and doom and gloom.

But God has revealed these things to mankind for out benefit. So that we may seek him and find him and turn to serve him here during the end of the last days.

Is this the end? No. Not yet. Jesus said in Matthew 24:14 that the good news of the kingdom must be preached to all the inhabited earth first, then the end will come. This preaching work is indeed throughout all the earth now. When God decides it is finished the end will come. When that happens there will be an earth-wide call of "peace and security" according to Bible prophecy.

People certainly are not feeling peace and security right now. So this is NOT the end. But it should be a wake up call to many who are sleeping in spiritual slumber. To wake up spiritually. To seek God. He is near and wants all mankind to listen to his word. To serve him out of love. And he promises to protect all of his meek and faithful servants. Both spiritually, and physically. Even if you were to die, if you are in God's memory he will make you rise again! There is no fear in loving God and serving him and keeping his commandments found in his word.

God cares for and loves humankind. He already demonstrated this by sending his son for mankind. He has demonstrated it by preserving his word in the Bible and making it available to everyone alive today. And he has done it by providing a people that teaches the truth about him and his word. That give light and hope to the world.

The gospel means "good news." The message of God's kingdom, that will soon bring an end to all wicked mankind and human rule when we pray "thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" is good news!

It is only bad news if you oppose God. If you deny truth. If you reject the Christ. If you love the world, and yearn for the wicked things of the world. The good news means the end of all these things. So in the end wicked people hate it. But we all have the choice.

Moses stated it simply when he said we can chose life or death. Life by loving Jehovah God, by listening to his voice, and obeying his commands, or death by rejecting him. The blessing and the curse. And each human has been afforded the dignity of deciding for themselves what it will be.

God loves us with such great a love. The fact that even now there is still time to chose to serve him, shows this. The end could have come long ago, but it was foretold:

2 Peter 3 9 Jehovah is not slow concerning his promise, as some people consider slowness, but he is patient with you because he does not desire anyone to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.

The angels in Revelation 7 are holding back the four winds of destruction until the complete # has been filled and sealed. When the last one alive today has been sealed with the final seal the angels will let the winds lose.

Revelation 7 After this I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding tight the four winds of the earth, so that no wind could blow on the earth or on the sea or on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the sunrise, having a seal of the living God; and he called with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying: “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until after we have sealed the slaves of our God in their foreheads.”
