An optimistic view of COVID-19.

As a species, I think we're going to come out of this far better than before.


Never has there been a time where the collective world population had their routines completely & unexpectedly change on them at once to focus on a single problem. You're going to see a massive amount of innovation come out of all this. Problems will be discovered, and with the power of the collective population basically working to solve those problems, you're going to get some very creative & innovative solutions.


You saw all the innovation that came out of the countrywide mobilization of WW2. Now imagine a worldwide mobilization effort with the engine of the internet powering the speed of innovation. I predict an explosion of innovation & perhaps prosperity to a level that the world has never seen before.


This whole saga is fascinating to me & while of course I feel terrible about all those negatively impacted, I'm incredibly excited to see what kind of reality lies on the other end of this.

Mother earth will cleanse the earth using the smallest of things to accomplish it. It has happened many times throughout history, humans and other types of hominids have been driven close to extinction by mother nature for many many thousands of years. Same with Tigers, they can eat themselves out of food and all die off, killing each other in the end.

The smallest of creatures that we waged war against can change quicker than humans, they have short lifespans and can mutate to compensate in ten generations, which can happen in hours, humans have about a fifteen or more year generation change, it takes two hundred years to adapt to what a microbe can do in minutes.

We cannot keep poisoning the ecosystem, these microbes evolve faster than we can keep up. The chemicals we pour onto the earth and into our sewers are jumping microbial evolution and we cannot keep up with them no matter how advanced we are. They use chemical warfare.

I believe you are correct if the journey to the new reality doesn't divide and conquer us. I can see people maybe appreciating some of the things we do have and hopefully discarding things that are no longer useful. It's as close to a common enemy this world has ever had. If we can't get together and solve this it shows how much we need to grow as a civilization, because the world obviously should be better prepared. Still, there is a good part of me that this feels like a dry run not that it is non-existent, ie they are making more of it than needed to test systems procedures and protocols and what works and what doesn't and how they can assert more control if needed.

It's not microbes. Microbes are living. A virus is not living. Just a package of trash that needs something living to replicate.

For about 100 years our scientific community has repeatedly changed its collective mind over what viruses are.

First seen as poisons, then as life-forms, then biological chemicals, viruses today are thought of as being in a gray area between living and nonliving.

They cannot replicate on their own but can only do so in other living cells but they can also affect the behavior of their hosts profoundly.

There are a lot of scientists that consider viruses living, it has charactistics of living organisms. Just because some people with prestige decided they are not living, doesn't mean they are correct.

They don't qualify them as living because they cannot multiply unless they have a living cell to impregnate.

I can't replicate without a woman...I must be a virus.

I still don't believe that Pluto is not a planet. Gotta beware of "experts". They make up sh'it to fatten their resume.

Obligate intracellular parasites = viruses

I think substances that blocks cell entry are also important, once the virus cant step in to cell it cant replicate then.

It does not require human ingenuity.

Once nature has run its course, those who have had the virus and recovered, will have immunity.

With fewer susceptible hosts, the virus will die out, until it mutates far enough to re-infect and re-immunize the next batch, who will also survive.

The whole self-quarrantine regimen will kill more than it saves. The virus will still spread and the acute cases will be too far from proper care and treatment when it reaches its peak symptoms.

So far, oxygen therapy has proven the most effective response for acute cases. To send the acute cases home, away from hospital care, is to kill them.

The virus causes pneumonia, which fills the lungs with liquid and causes them to be unable to provide enough oxygen for metabolism. How do you call for help if you are stuck at home and can hardly breathe?
