Box of DVDs

So, I'm laid off for two weeks because of current events and to help me kill some time my friend brought over a box of my DVDs which he's had in his car for about 6 months.

About 95% won't play.

I just get a "no disc inserted" message from my DVD player.

Anyone know why they won't play and/or how to fix the issue?

Or did my DVD collection just become shiny coasters...

Clean them with windex and a soft cloth. Wipe easily from center out. Let air dry.

if it's 95% of your DVD's, it's the player. Dirty laser or a loose connection somewhere.

The laser is either dirty or got knocked out of alignment during disuse.

Neither is difficult to repair - just search YouTube for tutorials.

It's only the DVDs my friend borrowed and left in his trunk.

The discs I've had here at my place play fine.

I've tried cleaning the discs and still get the no disc message.

I might try putting them in a sinkfull of hot soapy water.

Oh, then I would guess they were warped by heat? Melted just a smidge to make unreadable?

That must be it.

Visually they look fine.

However it seems the player just can't read most of them.

Suuuuucks.

That does suck. Make your friend go hit up some bargain bins at pawn shops!

Use a bit of diluted(with water) toot paste. rub that on the discs and heat dry.
