Baldur's Gate 3 , OG role players rejoice ! ... daddy's coming home.

Shown at the PAX East 2020 trade show yesterday Baldur's Gate 3 looks to continue the Baldur's Gate series with an epic crafted by Larian Studios , the developer of the incredibly good but intensely hard Divinity games .... even the developer runs into trouble playing Baldur's Gate 3.

Baldur's Gate 3 is currently slated for a PC early access release sometime this year but expectations are for this Summer ... count me in.

This is the first time in a decade an RPG got me excited to play again.

I usually buy games a couple of years after they come out to avoid the costs and let them work out the bugs. I might just buy this one at full price.

This is going to be amazing. I can’t wait!

Same here. There was a time (about 8 years ago) I would buy 2 to 4 full priced AAA games a month. Looking back I can't believe I was that wasteful with my money. I mean, most games are just 1 to 2 playthrough games, then it's collecting dust.

These days I'm almost exclusively interested in games which can give me more than 50 hours of enjoyment and my favorites are (Grand) Strategy, RPG's and Simulations. Currently I'm enjoying Ultimate General Civil War (Over 100 hours played) and recently bought Plague Inc. for obvious reasons. Which btw, took me by surprise! I mean, it has fantastic ratings and all, but I wasn't expecting to get much playtime out of it. It's well worth many, many hours of exterminating the world with all different deceases, playstyles, unlocks etc. So, quite happy with that.

Anyway, I'm mostly buying games on decent sales nowadays. I'm in no way willing to pay €50-€60,- for a game anymore.

I played this genre in college. Awesome franchise. I would play it but I am now too old and have other more pressing issues to address. It does however look like a lot of fun. I'm certain many bored HS students and paunchy weed smoking Bernie Bros will keep the flames lit.

Certainly a step up from BG2: SOA, which is still my favorite PC RPG. I might have to go grab it and try this one out too. Very impressive.

I spent many years in the BG/BG:SoA modding community doing artwork for various mod projects. So many memories of those games, so many hours of playtime. This trailer looks AMAZING. I'm hyped!

The Baldur's Gate 3 Steam page is up for anyone who wants to keep track of the game or add it to their wish list.

Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.

Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.

From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.

Choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an origin character with a hand-crafted background. Adventure, loot, battle and romance as you journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Play alone, and select your companions carefully, or as a party of up to four in multiplayer.

An expansive original story
Abducted, infected, lost. You are turning into a monster, but as the corruption inside you grows, so does your power. That power may help you to survive, but there will be a price to pay, and more than any ability, the bonds of trust that you build within your party could be your greatest strength. Caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and sinister otherworldly forces, you will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms together.

Forged with the new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that reacts to your choices. A grand, cinematic narrative brings you closer to your characters than ever before, as you venture through our biggest world yet.

No adventure will be the same
The Forgotten Realms are a vast, detailed and diverse world, and there are secrets to be discovered all around you -- verticality is a vital part of exploration. Sneak, dip, shove, climb, and jump as you journey from the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City. How you survive, and the mark you leave on the world, is up to you.

Online multiplayer for up to four players allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it.

Origin Characters offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda, and outlook on the world. Their stories intersect with the entire narrative, and your choices will determine whether those stories end in redemption, salvation, domination, or many other outcomes.

Evolved turn-based combat, based on the D&D 5e ruleset. Team-based initiative, advantage & disadvantage, and roll modifiers join combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and foresight.

Define the future of the Forgotten Realms through your choices, and the roll of the dice. No matter who you play, or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will react to your story.

Player-initiated turn-based mode allows you to pause the world around you at any time even outside of combat. Whether you see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before combat begins, want to pull off a heist with pin-point precision, or need to escape a fiendish trap. Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!

Not Baldur’s Gate without Jim Cummings voicing Minsc and not Baldur’s Gate without Minsc and Boo.

This game is going to be amazing. I've been a huge fan of the baldurs gate series, and of larian studios. I don't think they could have picked a better company for it. I can't wait for this game.

I have Divinity 2, and honestly aside from being really difficult except on the easy setting, the micromanaging just got tedious and I lost interest. Is Baldur's gate the same thing?

I did buy Baldur's gate and Icewind Dale around 2000 when I got my first PC. Didn't have enough RAM to run them properly

The only problem I had with Divinity and Divinity 2 was with some of the more obtuse puzzles but youtube "let's plays" helped out there , Baldur's Gate 3 will be based on Larian's interpretation of the 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons rule set so my guess is if you didn't like Divinity 2 you may not like this.

More will be known when the Beta is released so yotube "let's plays" may help you decide before jumping in.

Never was the biggest fan of turn based strategy, and cant even remember how far I got in the original bladurs gates games. Not far I think if I cant remember. But! May pick up this game purely for the nostalgia, and dont really have time to play video games, but when I do, seems like something to try.
