Ballsy move to release a bio-weapon on your own population but I guess it's one way you could deflect the blame. Unless they have already vaccinated the majority of their population?

I wish..
Doing keto. Sapporo and sake would be great right now.

That is actually quite smart. Being in ketosis is very stimulating to the immune system.

well the Philippines now has 52 cases. and that includes one doctor, but they are not releasing details such as from what hospital. but a doctor getting it, especially with numbers of known cases being relatively low is concerning. does this mean that their precautions and protection protocols are not effective?

and now for the big news. Metro Manila is now under lockdown/quarantine. this just came out a couple hours ago, which strikes me as odd since it came out after 9pm. school are closed until April 12. which is odd since that is actually during the summer holidays, so why not just cancel the year since it's pretty much over anyway. land air and sea travel into and out of Metro Manila is suspended starting 48 hours after the news was released. businesses are allowed to remain open at this time. public transit is also still to be running within the city at least for now. although at least one ride share app has suspended operation already. no word yet on things such as church services and the like.

MANILA, Philippines – Metro Manila, a region of over 12 million people, will be placed on lockdown for at least 30 days to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus in the Philippines.

This was announced by President Rodrigo Duterte in an evening address on Thursday, March 12, after declaring that the alert level for the coronavirus has been raised to its maximum level of Code Red Sublevel 2, marking the first massive lockdown in the country in recent history.

The lockdown covers 16 cities and one municipality of Metro Manila, as prescribed by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on the coronavirus outbreak, which is composed of key Duterte Cabinet officials.

"The recommendation of the Department of Health Technical Advisory Group on imposing Stringent Social Distancing Measures in the National Capital Region are adopted for a period of 30 days," the IATF's Resolution No. 11 reads.
It adds: "Land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila shall be suspended after the expiration of 48 hours from issuance of this Resolution."

guess it's a good thing i don't have plans to leave the city at this time. and this likely means crappy internet is about to begin with all the students being out and overloading the ISPs.

(Reuters) - A Brazilian government official who attended an official meeting at Donald Trump's resort in Florida on Saturday and posted a photo of himself standing next to the U.S. president has tested positive for coronavirus, the Estado de S.Paulo newspaper said on Thursday.

A spokesperson for the hospital could not confirm or deny the report. Wajngarten did not respond to requests for comment nor did Bolsonaro's office

CNN is reporting this story of Trump and Pence exposed to Brazilian press secretary as well...

www.cnn.com...

Fabio Wajngarten, the press secretary for Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday, according to two sources who spoke to CNN.

The health of the Brazilian president is being monitored.

Wajngarten was with Bolsonaro on last weekend’s US trip, during which the Brazilian president dined with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

Wajngarten posted a picture of himself with Trump on Instagram a few days ago.

Which country has the biggest over population issue including HK? And who may need to think more about depop? And who has the least humanity of the over populated nations? Who is happy to wack people easy. Remember T square! The Chinese are capable of this! But whether it was a accidental release of a wip BW or a deliberate release we will just have to see if China does anything which my point to it being deliberate. And if they do, can the world prove it and what action would take place if they did?

UK moves from contain to delay.

Sturgeon - decision taken to move from 'contain' to 'delay'

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says it was decided at a Cobra meeting this afternoon.

She said: "The decision has been taken that we have now moved from a contain phase into the delay phase where the objective is to seek to slow down the spread of the virus, to reduce the numbers who will be infected at the peak, the number infected at any one time."

FTSE 100 loses more than 10% of its value

It is the biggest intraday fall since the 2008 financial crisis, with almost £150bn wiped off London's top index as markets worry over the global spread of COVID-19.

More than half a trillion pounds has been wiped off the index in less than three weeks, bringing the London market to its lowest level since 2012.

Just heard on local radio. Will update with a source ASAP.

Canada PM Justin Trudeau and his wife are at home self-isolating after having corona virus symptoms.

EDIT: Radio report.

His wife is experiencing symptoms. She just came back from the UK. PM not exhibiting symptoms but in self isolation.

globalnews.ca...

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is self-isolating after his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, developed flu-like symptoms and got tested for the new coronavirus known as COVID-19.

In a press release on Thursday, the Prime Minister’s Office said she has received a test for the new coronavirus after her symptoms emerged following a trip to the U.K. last night. While the prime minister has no symptoms, he will continue to self-isolate until the test results are back.

I don't know either but following the pattern and timing of it all. We wait and see. We all know that the planet cannot sustain a continued increasing population and that at some stage it will need to happen or the planet will be finished! And the chances of it happening naturally are pretty slim. So ....... has a decision been taken that its better now then later? Who knows!

McLaren have confirmed they are withdrawing from the Australian Grand Prix after a member of the team tested positive for the coronavirus.

McLaren withdraw from the Australian GP after team member contracts coronavirus

Wonder how long it will before they cancel the race?

The Australian Grand Prix is set to be called off following a team meeting in Melbourne on Friday night, high level sources have revealed.
Just hours after McLaren withdrew from the race following one of its staff members being confirmed as having coronavirus, F1 team bosses got together to discuss what to do.

Motorsport.com understands that in the talks with the FIA and F1 teams, a majority of squads said they were unhappy to continue with the event.

Sources indicate that the governing body said it would accept a majority decision of the teams so would now move to call off the event.

Then you, CHICKEN LITTLE, are part of the problem. We don't need hype. We need facts.

I wish you wouid stop with the insults. Nearly everyone who disagrees with you gets them. You can make good arguments. You don't need to resort to this. I suspect, however, that you enjoy it.

MODS: If the insults don't stop, this member needs to be banned.

I didn't feel insulted at all. I have been called much worse. But, I do think TANSTAAFL believes what he wrote; I was merely trying to point out a few inconsistencies with what has been said, I am not at all screaming that the sky is falling.
You can't say we have to protect those at risk without making serious concessions that are going to negatively affect the economy. As evidenced by the stock market today.

What this country did was wait until the last moment to "protect those at risk" because it was downplayed I BELIEVE, for sparing the economy as long as possible. I also believe, we could have had it both ways; the decisions be made now could have have been made 8 weeks ago, a little at a time when there was no sign of spreading. Then everyone would have carried on thinking no big deal its just over reaction. That would have served several purposes; actually protected those at risk, slowed the progression of spread, and instead of panic decisions like yesterdays reaction, would have eased the markets and the economic hit.

Looks like a carnival of the damned set up outside the Diamond Princess that's docked in the US right now with all those tents.

I recall seeing a post about the DP actually being an excellent model for looking at how this thing spreads, due to the clos and closed proximity of the passengers. Does anyone remember seeing that?

It could be very illuminating to see the numbers from that ship, from the first confirmation, to now.

Also, South Korea still hovering around 0.7 to 0.8 CFR, which is most likely the real numbers we'll be seeing.

So, yes, 7-8 times as bad as the flu - but still, not worth destroying our economy and lives over.

Wow,

Update from small town America.

My sister that works at the local Walmart just text me. She gave me a heads up that a coworker was on one of the cruise ships and was supposed to be on voluntary quarantine. She showed up to work today and broke that quarantine. My sister said she was instructed by the county health dept. to do so.

Now I know that people have to pay bills and I am pretty certain this is the reasoning behind this move. But after what we have been seeing lately I feel tha maybe something should have been done a little different, what I don't know.

Pretty surreal as it all unfolds. Whether you think its just the flu or not, until it hits close to home it is another story.

I introduced myself on thread 2 page 125.

UK. Military (and yes, I am deliberately vague on location and details for obvious reasons)

Work: The plan that we were briefed on will now take place. I explained in my last post that we are a small unit and our role will not be military aid to the civil authorities, we are to self protect in order to maintain our defence taskings. It's nothing really exciting but is vital (we are not the only location). Other units/locations may have other roles and I know there are contingency plans for military aid to the civil authority (even that's not anything new, there are plans for plans). My unit/location will not be aiding the civil authorities, that's not our role. Other than that, no real change.

Domestic: Preapared and ready. All healthy.

Opinion: Interesting times. The trading/money markets are taking a good kicking, this will no doubt end up kicking us all in the nadges economically no matter how the virus goes. As for the virus, we are all going to get it, that's a given. All we can do is protect the vulnerable, mitigate as much as we can the social affects and look after each other. If you are fit and healthy, fight through, it's a mind set and your own genetics. I explained in my last post that this virus is now in our environment. An infected environment which we are having to operate in with restrictions and we cannot remove it. Stay positive, good skills and drills with see you through. That and being prepared and a positive attitude. Not forgetting the genetics that nature gave you. It's here and now only a matter of time before we all get it. All we can do is limit our exposure and intensity.

Looking at it all, on how the UK has managed everything so far. I'm impressed. The fact we have an NHS, the way it is set up and totally free is one reason why we are in a good position. This virus will ravage us all and unfortunately kill many, we can't stop that but we can delay, draw out and try to safe who we can. Being in the Forces, with the briefs I have had so far, truth is, we don't know which direction this can take. It's now out there in nature and we have no immunity. It will either get you now, later or much later on.

Not real like in Italy then, where it’s WAY higher? Or do we only focus in the numbers that fit our narrative?

Whats happening in Kansas City area...

MarchMadness NCAA Games - No Fans
St Patricks Day Parade Called Off
My Wife will start working from home after NEXT Friday
I already work from home and have for years
Kids are saying they likely will be doing school online after NEXT Friday (but nothing official yet)

We have only 1 known Corona case the metro area.

What if they close everything down before the virus even arrives? Will that just make it last even longer?
