Wow, textbook case of confirmation bias. The guy actually claims to have spent several weeks conducting his own investigation in an attempt at positive identification, mundane or otherwise. Tho I did notice his failure to mention even one single step taken pursuant to said research. In fact, he only referenced his efforts as a counterpoint to the numerous detractors that, by his account, would steadfastly insist that his video featured only a helicopter after a scant few minutes of viewing. Lol... in hindsight I should've known the detractors he described hailed from ATS. Should've been obvious, even to me. GOD I love this place!
I suppose if nothing more, this case provides a decent study in... well, something relevant to researching this phenomenon. I'll leave exactly what that is to the much smarter people on this forum than I.

Well, to be fair, this IS ufology. Someone makes a claim, has footage, and then we investigate from our computers. It's not just one guy with a tape recorder and Brownie camera knocking on some farmer's door. People with specialized knowledge in video and conventional aircraft offer their expert opinions. Just because we didn't do it old school and take weeks to do everything by mail or go out and personally talk to the guy doesn't make it less legit. We investigated, found a plausible explanation, and sorted it out.

No, it didn't turn out to be aliens, but then again, nothing ever has. So ufology isn't exactly "dead," but rather it's become a streamlined group activity online where the junk cases are more quickly debunked. The older cases are rehashed to see if we can deflate those too. It's all part of the process.
