Color out of space is good, if you like nuts out there Sci fi movies, has just recently came out. Also one that's a bit arty but quite deep, that I found was brilliant is under the skin with scarlet johansen in, that is a great movie. Also if you have never seen Sunshine that is an awesome Sci fi about a crew that has to kick start our sun again with nuclear bombs as it is dying, that film is stunning.

Dude Moon - what a brilliant film. That's in my top 10 of all time for me.

I really enjoyed The Endless - not strictly sci-fi - more a crossover between horror/sci-fi. It'll keep you guessing until the end:

Life (2017) was also really good. Got panned a little but I really liked it. Think a mix of Alien/Gravity and you get the idea:

Also just outside your date range (2015) is Turbo Kid. I thought this was great. It's about a kid in a post-apocalyptic world who finds the girl of his dreams.

Sorry I haven't said too much about them - don't want to give anything away.

Under the Skin is awesome. The soundtrack is done really well too. That's also up there in my top 10 - watched it again the other day.

The Giver is a great dystopia film that no one I know has seen.
And Snowpeicer is also a great film.

The Endless was very good. I am tring to remember the name of its companion film - not as good but set at the same time with much crossover.

Primer is a very good, though akso very slow time travel film.

Interstellar is one of my all time favourites with epic scope and soundtrack.

District 9 and Chappie are awesome.
