Shout out to all the old crabs who still complain about young people. It's the year 2020, and the oldest millennials have started to enter their 40s. It's okay, everyone gets older, but I think it's about time we all stop calling teenagers millennials. At the current rate we'll be entering the mid-century at 2050 with octogenarians and centurians calling teenagers and twenty year olds millennials.

Have fun with this thread. Talk about the difference in people you've seen across the decades.

Personally I have to say that I've seen people of all kinds of backgrounds raised in ways that don't fit with the generational stereotypes. I grew up with friends who had the typical "strict Asian parents" upbringing, same with the whole religious upbringing.

I will say I think the rise of social media and it's influence has been rather detrimental in where people put their priorities. I have seen the affects of that across the age range. I seen 40 year old men and women act like their still in high schooo, and I've seen younger people robbed of their childhood and out of circumstance more or less forced to adopt more mature lifestyles than their age would typically necessitate.

Speaking as a baby-boomer, as far as I'm concerned all of you are youngsters. Why complicate things with subdivisions?

I've coped with more stuff than you youngsters ever could!

Now git off my lawn!

Haha I think I've still got about thirty or forty years until I can grow into my old man shoes. I tried yelling at some kids a few weeks ago to get off my property and it just didn't feel natural.

I've never really cared much for the whole labelling of generations. It's true that it's mostly a marketing schtick.
I just wanted to create a lighthearted thread for us all to talk.

I'm going to edit the OP.

So if 26-40 year olds are in the same generation does that mean my 39 year old ass can date a 26 year old?

Yes, but would you want to?

Trust me, even the most Seemingly harmless 26 year old hottie — isn’t what you remember 13 years ago.

It’s a different generation. A technological one. It sucks.....

outside of about 10 years you'll find you probably have few things in common...

I've dated a few 10 years younger or more... never works out... fun though lol

True. My dad was a self proclaimed rocker in his youth and my mother was a stereotypical valley girl. I was raised around bikers and in bars. I watched movies that ranged from Bill and Ted, Biodome, Encino Man, and Pauly Shore movies to movies like the Marlboro Man and Hard Candy. I always felt like it would have been rad if I was a teenager or in my early twenties in the 80's.

It's true. I'm a couple weeks shy of thirty, and I already and still can't stand women who are 18 to 30. Is it legal? Sure, is it fun? Maybe. Is it easy? NOPE!

EDIT:

This most definitely could warrant it's own thread, but I'm sure it's been broached enough as it is. But, I don't know if dating has ever been easy. most of the women I meet now feel it's necessary to date multiple men at once. Often times it's because each guy provides something the others don't.

I took a woman out some time ago who I never talked to again after the second date. I found out she had one man who was making payments on her car, another man was paying her rent, another man was oaying her rent for another apartment, another man was buying her clothes, and she was attempting to get me to pay for things as well.

That and the rise of "influencers," "premium Snapchats," and other men who will pay money just for pictures of feet. Finding love nowadays is nigh impossible unless you're the kind of guy who foolishly believes love comes in the form of online interaction in lieu of payment.

This summer, cut your grass with one of those old fashioned reel mowers. You'll be yelling at people who are just driving by your lawn.

I’m a Gen X.

I loved growing up in that time, jobs were plentiful, relationships were in, there was plenty to do
As a teenager - roller skating, discos, drive inns.

You could buy a decent used car for 1,500, rents were affordable. You only really needed one job, and you could afford a vacation at least once a year.

Now, I see millennials going into huge student loan debt, only finding part-time jobs, struggling to find a real relationship because so many people just swipe now. Renting an apt is more expensive than having a mortgage. Need a car, it’ll cost about 300/month.

Health insurance, sure we have that, but the co pays and deductibles will break your bank.

Internet ruining futures and relationships, people getting fired over comments on fake book.

I would not wanted to grow up in their years.

Wish we could all get it right, but fear selfishness and greed is too rampant. Also too much hatred and evil.

Some days I hope for the asteroid!

Yeah, thankfully because of the military I'll have pretty much all of my school paid for. I'm better off than some as far as employment goes. And well relationships. Maybe one day I'll find someone that isn't self absorbed and constantly worrying about their social media appearance.

The 80's took me from 19 to 29 and yes it was pretty awesome.
