I think Iran will have enough to deal with now while America reposition themselves, help Iran look at themselves. They now have enough to clean up, apologies, make sure there nuclear station is ok. They've panicked like a backed up animal. There next move has to be more premeditated...that's when they will regret it. Unfortunately having troops being pulled out left right and center makes it a bit difficult to retaliate I guess. It's all abit quick and fast-paced ... Trump will respond cleverly and will hold the cards now.

Somebody wrote it was like America was fighting against the 3 stooges,i believe theyr'e right
Iran lost Politically and militarily.
And the US didn't have to lift a finger

Yeah - if Iran really tried to attack us with the missiles and did no damage, and then shot down an airliner by mistake, they kind of tarnished their military reputation pretty badly in one night.

I'm expecting at least another Praying Mantis type response. There's too much happening too fast, with too many people that won't back down pushing things.

If there were no American casulties from tonights events there will hardly be any response.

air base in Dubai and 5th fleet in Bharain, and well Israel being their great foe probably added because why not . remember in gulf war one iraq lobbed all kinds of SCUDS at Israel its one of the reasons they have IRON dome

If you saw the video a lot of their rockets were intercepted ,their missile force to me isn't as big a worry as their proxies on the ground in Yemen,Iraq,Lebanon etc many of whom despite being linked to Tehran aren't necessarily under their direct control. They always will lump Saudi Arabia,Gulf States,Israel and the USA as a common enemy, which complicates things.

i agree, i think Iran has a potent force for sure
i think in this case there was effort made to avoid American casualties
But when headlines read no US dead how will that be read in Iran?

Looks very like external damage caused by an external explosion. Plane seems to have come apart mid air, which is unusual for an engine failure, even a catastrophic failure. Looks to me like it was accidentally shot down. a reply to: Zaphod58

These were from Southwest 1380 after its engine failure. This was just about as catastrophic a failure as you'll see, and they flew 20 minutes and landed. They were never in actual danger of crashing.

IS ANYONE SURPRISED?

U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney, called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi an “embarrassment” Tuesday evening, after Pelosi attended a Washington restaurant opening, following Iran's missile fire against U.S. troops in Iraq.

Quite a interesting 24 hours eh.

I don't believe for a second that passenger plane just crashed and its a case of unfortunate timing, doubt I am alone on that and I can see from Zaps post above that is not a unfounded view. Lets take that aside for a moment.

For Iran the missile strike against US military targets that result in zero casualties is hardly going to be seen as proportionate retaliation from their point of view. Saying we put a few holes in a runway is hardly equal to them taking out their number two guy. Even if Iranian state TV claims that they killed 20 or 30 servicemen the people who matter, the military leaders are going to know the truth and they still want blood. That makes me think that we should expect another attack but this time I would expect them to use unconventional forces to attack. Which when you think about it would make a lot more sense then to assume that they deliberately took down that plane.

If they have been responsible then that is bound to change the scale of American and western retaliation.

It seems Trump has not rushed in to more retaliatory attacks - we'll learn more as the day/week progresses.

No casualties in the Iran missile attacks?
Sounds all a bit contrived.

If as posted above Iran informed Iraq prior to the attack it would seem these attacks were carried out more for domestic consumption back home in Iran and not for any actual damage it may have inflicted on the US.

Maybe, just maybe, these Mullahs and Trump deserve more credit than we, or at least I, normally grant them.

Here's hoping.

yeah its definitely got the feeling like they just wanted to be seen to be doing something, CNN are also reporting that not only where the Americans given a warning but also that Iran deliberately missed any American personal.

This whole thing stinks to High-Heaven.

Now that they have threatened to send Hezbollah into Dubai, I potentially have three close family members in the firing line.

My Mum only returned from there last week after a three week visit over the Christmas and New Year period.

'Iran threatens to 'unleash Hezbollah' in Israel and Dubai'

..."Iran making threats of mass escalation," wrote NBC foreign chief correspondent Richard Engel. "To attack more bases in Iraq. To unleash Hezbollah. To unleash shiite militias in Iraq. To attack Israel and Dubai. Making it clear it is ready for a [widespread] campaign if this escalates further with a US response."

Of course back home in Iran it will be portrayed as a decisive attack on US interests and that the Great Satan has taken heed of the lesson.

No US personnel hurt so no need for Trump to carry out any more attacks.

The world keeps turning and the status quo remains the same.....the same #ed up mess its always been.
Until the next time, or the next......

Still, there's always beer my friend.
