The official justification for the arms shipments was that they were part of an operation to free seven American hostages being held in Lebanon by Hezbollah, a paramilitary group with Iranian ties connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

But my term mistakenly refers to the Lebanese hostages.

I was generally referring to the collusion with Iran going back to GWB's ClA and VP era, how there could be way more to the story if a long-term alliance was built. I was in my late teens, 6 months into US Navy service, yet still vividly remember how the Iranian people humiliated Americans at the Iran Embassy. I can recall this one balding middle aged man with a white towel wrapped around his head/eyes, being paraded before the TV Cameras.

Donald Trump was around 32 years old at that time. The Iran terrorists must have etched a sense of wanting payback, in his mind too.
