Best Shooting Earplug

Earplug is a great help to us to protect our hearing from the loud noise. The shooters have a chance of tinnitus, which is not curable. People wear earplugs, ear muffs at the time of the shooting but we need to choose the right earplug. Thoughts?

ok - serious answer try as many as you can - beg borrow and steal - different people have different sensitivities and various products mitigate various frequencies better // worse than others

not exactly helpfull - but there is no " uber product " - that provides best protection to everyone - while using every type of firearm

i used to juse crap industrial plugs for shotgun " work " - but my dear rifle sent a jolt through one ear

fun fact, the muffler you can't legally not have on your car was invented for your rifle... where you pretty much can't legally put it.

I always used to favour those little foamies (foam inner-earplugs) you'd roll-up and push into your ear before they expanded into a perfect fit;

They're dirt cheap, lightweight, and take up no space.

in the US - legal for refiles in 42 states - with various retrictions from - no restriction to no hunting and sales restrictions

the " banned states " are pretty much easy to guess

Well, I paid over a grand for mine- it'll be a full year ago next week. Note that it's just a tube with some bits in it- I could build this thing for $50, but that'd be a felony.
Then I paid hundreds to some vague agency so they could collect my finger prints and log me in god knows how many databases- which is the first step in confiscation.
Supposedly they'll get back to me some day and grant me the right to pick up this thing I'm supposedly allowed to own, but every attempt to ask when so far has been greeted with hostility.

Meanwhile, a $15 oil filter and a $5 adapter does the exact same thing, but you lose all of your freedoms if you happen to be seen with it- and even if you jump through all those hoops it's still generally against the law to use it for hunting, which is the whole point of owning it. Try stalking a coyote with hearing protection on- good luck!

What's been outlawed?
You tell me. It's FAR cheaper and easier and WAY faster to get the exact same thing without government consent, but they quite literally will ruin your life if you do it that way.
Calling this screwed up process "not outlawed" is criminal, IMO.

Anyway.
Assuming you're OKAY with all of that nonsense, 3m makes some really nice ear muffs. They use a couple of AA batteries and will amplify the sounds around you (granted, I've never seen one do it in stereo so its worthless hunting)
The mic cuts out over a certain DB range.
They're nice if you're at a shooting range with some friends because you can carry on a normal conversation without taking hearing damage from the noise. I want to say I paid about $80 for mine.... About what a good suppressor would cost if they weren't so heavily regulated.

Here so many people ask question and give some beautiful responses about earplugs. Someone ignores to wear earplug and say they don't wear earplug for a moment they don't face with ringing the ear and tinnitus. But it's true that the loud noise is harmful to our ear and we may lose our hearing. I think safety must be taken first. The best shooters deserve the best ear protection for shooting all the time.
