They are mate, our families down south are now fighting for their survival. The south eastern states are facing destruction in the rural and coastal areas.

Makes me feel a bit sad, I pulled through after losing most of the village where I live. Does my head in somewhat. The videos of people escaping to the beaches is a tragedy. God bless the firefighters.

My wife's family are all volunteer fire fighters on the south coast. No Xmas or New Year for them. What a mess.

I hope your wifes relatives stay safe ...incredibly freaky things going on an 8 tonne fire truck flipped by a fire tornado, midnight at midday, fires creating their own microclimates,49 degree weather with 80kmh winds...bizarre

Can't mate. I went through it here. My first grandson and his parents are there staying at the In law's place on their way south for a new life. I have been there through a fire there over 28 years ago as an LEO. Ain't pretty. Small coastal town. Recently my Father in Law was up here helping me clean up after the fire wiped us off the map.

Dammit!

We had about 2 weeks of orange/red sunrises and sunsets and smoke haze but thankfully my area has been clear for a week normal summers day with a blue sky here today but this is what it is like elsewhere today

Good on you for putting it out there. 4,000 on the beach to escape. No beach here just dams when it hit us.
