THANK YOU
I just sent this email to family, thanks to you!

Can we have a no phones, except for emergencies rule for Christmas Eve when we are opening presents.

Perhaps, put them in a basket?

On Christmas day, can we have a no phones except to talk to family and wish them a Merry Christmas, and emergencies too?

We are all together so infrequently I think this would be something I'd really like to do and a tradition I'd like to start. What say you all to this new Christmas Tradition - the phone basket - phone free (except to wish a Merry Christmas to family not with us) - and emergencies of course - Christmas.

It might be nice to have a phone free time on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Love,
Mom

That is awesome! I don't believe I've ever been a trend setter before.

I could get addicted! lol

Flip phone here too. I'll need a new one soon and I'm concerned we won't be able to purchase them much longer. I might just get a pager and an unlisted landline if that happens! Oops this was meant for the gentleman above.

Its really hard to find flip-phones new now in Canada.

I liked the flip phone and I thought I heard something about
them coming back a week or so ago. I'll google that.

That was easy enough!

Hahaha

Nooice !!!

Funny thing though, I read and edit trove articles, old newspaper articles and I've seen some good reports of things from the 50's and 60's. Mostly about UFO's though, where people in multiple places confirmed a sighting, back in a time before the media had x-files music and jovial yet obnoxious hosts to relay it.

But the best one was this, from The MIRROR (Perth, W.A.) 01 April, 1950. :

CASUALTY FROM FLYING SAUCER
Rome, Today:
Arnaldo Capelli, of Sesto Sangiovanni, near Milan, is believed to be
the world's first fatal casualty of 'flying saucers'. He looked up when
a group of people pointed skywards— and a lorry ran over him.

ETA -- I am glad you did post it.. I don't know if it is or not, just inkling towards that way, yanno.
But it's like that one where someone once said that in the future the world will be connected via screens, and phone wires and technology so that information can be passed along freely.. that was indeed ahead of it's time.

good post though, but gosh darn it, I wish I could find the archive. I do that.. I spend an inordinate amount of time looking up irrelevant things, and often get lost in the minutia of it all, it's just fascinating..

I wonder if the people that got that guy to look up set the whole thing
up? Shows ya how I think.

Good to hear I'm not alone in my endeavors. And like I said if
it makes for good conversation I won't even research it. So you
could be correct. At least it looks like there might be some
patina there. lol

Thank you for the link....I was just @ a major Shopping Mall working with a Major Provider and they told me that the manufacture of flip-phones is being phased out----they did not have any at all. They are aiming for no Anonymity.

Our kids (and us big kids) have no problem withno-device family time. I read onmy phone when I previously would have been reading a newspaper, game on my phone at night when everyone is sleeping, when I previously would have been playing PC games.

Kids LOVE interactive time with their parents far more than anything on their devices.

You damn right they do. And this one right here loves to hear
about it. One of the main reasons I got married successfully
the third time around. Is because of her being an excellent
mother. I really think a lot of people like that. I wish I saw it
more often.

Merry Christmas
