Oh, I think the plan was that they realized Biden wasn't their guy and they hoped he would bow out as collateral damage in a last-ditch impeachment bid. Then she could step in (Yes, they actually believe she would/should win).

Unfortunately, he didn't bow out gracefully and they just doubled down on stupid as usual. Now they are just riding a tiger and don't know what to do.
