So don't use your card at the store to get cash, go to the atm and get cash. If your bank charges atm fees at their bank, go to another bank, or credit union. By using your card everywhere you've given the bank another opportunity to uselessly insert themselves into the transaction and take a cut. Why? Simple excuse is laziness. And if you are lazy, I don't care what you have to say.

Didn't they always?
I always see a fee from the store and a fee from my bank.

I never have been charged a fee for getting cash back during a purchase.

ATMs with whom I don't bank, yes.

You get reimbursed with USAA on those withdrawal fees, so perks at your bank can help mitigate some of the impact.

I do cash back DAILY, so that would be upsetting, but just means I have to pull more out.

DOH!

You jinxed me.

I went to the supermarket this weekend and got cash back....and for the first time it charged me 50 cents.

Could be worse, still beats an ATM (2 to 3 dollars here depending) but...dang nabbit.
