This just in - Trump announces white house will now subscribe to weekly world news, world net daily and the national enquirer!

All would be an upgrade on the NYT and WaPo. Then again, so would The Onion.

I was giving you the benefit of the doubt.
So, can you explain how not buying a newspaper is an attack on free speech?

Saving money is a good thing especially in government circles, you and I both know however bally this isn't about saving money, this is about removing bad press.

If trump wasn't such a megalomaniac this wouldn't be an issue, the press should be critical, when it no longer is we are screwed.

Yeah, I see your point mate. Thing is, like I posted, he really hasn't removed bad press because the minions can look at it for free anyway online if they wish to. Hell, I do. Don't need a newspaper here, and I don't watch TV anymore. Family does. I check my computer a couple of times a day to catch up with events and like you'd know I'm keeping an eye on the Rural Fire Brigade site on "Fire near me" Nymboida. Can't see a paper keeping me up to date with that.

Kind regards,

Bally

Yep, very happy about it.

Mr. Trump is saving hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars?

That's GREAT!

How does that stack up against the trillion dollar deficit being run up in his Administration?

What would that calculation look like? Let's just round off the savings to a million, shall we?

Something like 1,000,000/1,000,000,000,000?

A 0.0001% net reduction?

Awesome.

I can relate to that, the most news I get is from here on this site, I have far more responsibility than to worry about politics and hooligans opinions of it.

I paid for a tank refill the other day, 250$ for 16000 litres I feel dirty paying for that but damn it's dry....I know your in similar if not worse circumstances, stay safe and watch for those damn fires.

Crikey, believe it or not that is dirt cheap where I live. $200 for 7,000 litres and I live near a river.

Sorry mods - on topic, the only newspapers I get out here are a load my wife brings home from one of her jobs. Goes into mulching and worm farm stuff. And I am amazed at the amount from one store. Goes to show that perhaps a lot more people are going electronic in the bush.

Funny antidote on the side is that my neighbor comes over and takes the form guides. True as. Dunno why. Not like the worms would be particularly interested.

haha

So banning conservative speakers at universities and colleges so people are unable to hear an opposing viewpoint is perfectly acceptable and openly defended behaviour.

But the cancelling a subscription to a (non partisan and completely unbiased) newspaper is an attack on the freedom of the press and amounts to silencing the opposition?

Got it.

Did the Federal government ban speakers at colleges? When?

No they didn’t

But when college ban speakers, the ban is applauded.

By the same people who claim that this subscription cancellation is in some way an attack on the press.

Which it most definitely is not

And the federal government has not banned these newspapers either

Every federal employee is absolutely free to bring those newspapers to work if he or she feels like doing so.

If I were to trump you, I would ignore your reply, call it an attack then proceed to remove you from my reply list.

Sure let's set a precedent as we speak , remove all media that is critical to the current administration that way we are guaranteed only positive press.

Oh like YouTube and Facebook do? And twitter. And instagram. All of which have much larger readership than these failed newspapers.

Which, again, is openly applauded.

Which is actually not even close to what the government has just done. The federal government has not banned nor has it even removed those newspapers from its buildings

It just stopped buying them.
