McKamey Manor: Haunted house requires 40-page waiver, offers patrons $20K if they can handle 10+ hours
(I have no way to post the image they provided, for some reason I lost my ability to post pictures...)

This haunted house seems doable to me, BUT, I would imagine that with that kind of $$$ at stake, they'd try to scare you on a potty break! heheh

SUMMERTOWN, Tenn. - Haunted Houses are a staple of spooky season, but one “extreme haunted experience” pushes people to their limits and requires patrons to sign a 40-page waiver, create a safe word and pass a physical exam.

McKamey Manor touts itself as the scariest haunted house in the country. There’s a location in Summertown, Tennessee, and Huntsville, Alabama, according to the website.

Russ McKamey owns and operates the terrifying experience, which appears to take more than 10 hours to complete. People can take the tour by themselves, which is called “Desolation,” or they can take part in a two-person “personalized interactive experience.”

In order to participate, a reservation has to be made and the haunted house fan must be 21 or older. Then they must go through a lengthy screening process.

The process requires each person to complete a sports physical, which includes a doctor’s letter “stating you are physically and mentally cleared;” pass a background check provided by McKamey; a screening on Facebook, FaceTime or over the phone; provide proof of medical insurance; sign a 40-page waiver; create a safe word and pass a drug test.

Once a person has passed the rigorous process, they have to watch a two-hour video and pay to get in with a bag of dog food for McKamey’s pets.

If a person has the physical and mental strength to finish the house, they can walk away with a lifetime of nightmares and $20,000. But they also have to follow a required set of rules or they’ll lose out on some of the cash.

Those rules include no cussing, drinking, smoking, running, eating, or touching the actors or props.

So far, McKamey said no one has completed the intense tour.

The original location for the house was in San Diego, California, but eventually it closed down and McKamey moved to the Tennessee and Alabama locations.

This story was reported from Los Angeles.

This list is of the most extreme around the globe. I actually toured what was the biggest in the world yesterday, The Cutting Edge. Its pretty impressive the amount or work and staff at that one.

McKamey has a documentary on Netflix I believe.

This isn't a haunted house... This is a torture house... Can you endure hours of torture? Is PTSD worth $20k to you? Its been open for a few years and zero people have completed it. You need to sign a 40 page waiver, watch a 2 hour video of people tapping out from the challenge, you need to take a physical and mental evaluation... its not your normal haunted house... you shouldnt be bruised, cut, etc... The owner said 7 years back a guy had a heart attack while doing this, he called it "good stuff".... this is legal torture, nothing more, and the owner/people who work a this place are psychopaths...

Not sure how to post YT videos anymore, but watch the link below..

That looks like a good list of links for those that go to haunts.

That place is definitely intense!
I have never heard of it before, or, I had no idea they were anywhere near this until I saw it this morning.
It's not a thing that I would consider doing, I am REALLY surprised that some of this stuff is even legal, they definitely push the limits.
I was shocked when I saw the 'help' slap the heads of the 'guests'.
I already have PTSD, so I don't need more. heheh

Here's your video...

Yea, the dude who runs it tries to come off as a normal average joe, but hes not, to think this up is crazy in itself, but to execute it/make it real is a whole other level of derangement... I have zero clue how this business would get any sort of business insurance.. so assuming they dont have any, is that why they go to such extreme levels, ie, 40 page waiver, 2 hour video, physical/mental exams and must be over 21 years of age to compete. crazy to think they have a waitlist of over 20k people... i dont know who would want to put themselves through this, but maybe the person is someone whos into sick fantasies, or are weak minded and easily roped into something like this... i just cant understand how this is even legal.

Reading the YouTube reviews there was not one review that was positive! That tells you something, right there.
The consensus was that he found a loophole to where he can legally torture people, and that is exactly what it appears to be too.

I am sure that the people that are waiting in line to do this think that they can finish, I think that how they LOSE is when they touch the 'help', or, curse'
That right there is hard enough for me to not do in a day without being tortured, I mean, the cursing. heheh
I seriously doubt that they actually pull teeth, but they could sure damage your enamel with a pair of pliers acting as though they would.

Like what was said in the comments, "they don't even do this kind of stuff in boot camp!".

Crazy stuff, and i have to also agree that the owner is lacking in the mental department, you would have to be to run an 'establishment' like that.

If this was a real haunted house with ghosts/demons I'm in. If it's just a bunch of psychos trying to hurt you, I'm out.

People are crazy.

On second thought, I could probably take being beat up for 10 hours for $20,000. I'm not far from there, if the waiting list wasn't so long I'd sign up.

Watch the video... No way I could take someone slapping my head over and over or stuffing a rag in my mouth. These people are ridiculous. I thought it was an actual haunted house, not something teetering on a real life Hostel. A real haunted house for $20K? Hell yes, but something like this? No way. I wouldn't make it past the head slapping.

No one will ever get the 20 grand. Im sure they make positive of that. You cuss you loose, you touch the "actors" you loose, you touch the props, you loose.

Yeah, the only thing your getting out of this is psychological damage.

I suppose too many people have huge egos. Put you who aside and it would be an easy 20k.

Halloween + trying to sale housing?

I'd give it a go, I've been through scary haunting experiences before. This sounds suspect at best though.

Will look more, spooky stuff is fun this time of year

From what I heard this is psychological torture with a lot of suggestive hypnosis thrown in. Thus why there is no guarantee you will be allowed a chance if you are not able to be put into a suggestive trance state.

The owner video tapes your whole experience in order to prove to you that what you thought was happening was not the reality. Many apparently cause their own injuries while in the trance state.

As a retired hypnotist, I understand why he has such waivers and the need for participants to have their own full coverage health insurance. Liabilities would be through the roof else wise. The interview allows them to customize your own personal terror experience. Thus why no one has been able to complete and win the 20 k.
