The Carbon is not used during the energy release.

Some of it is.
Some carbon is burned to form CO2, the arch-nemesis of the global warming folks.

We made something similar to this. NOw, when you go big, you need a lot of juice and it makes a lot of heat....but it was fun...just $20 in parts at Home Depot.

www.rmcybernetics.com...

I have been told that it makes a helluva crater when you tie a plastic bottle of it to a stump and ignite it, from a couple hundred yards away

It's not practical in motor vehicles the hazardous waste has to be dealt with. Can't just dump it in the ground.

You don't have a very good grasp on physics do you?

Hydrogen takes more energy to produce than you can get out of it.
Oil on the other hand does not.

Maybe today it's that way - but it's all about the Benjamins.

As soon as someone sees a money making opportunity, watch how quickly a new way is invented to collect free hydrogen.

BTW - it's not hard. Many kids with nothing more than a half-assed chemistry set have been doing it for decades.

I know - because I did it in the early 70's.

You're joking, right?

SInce when is water (H2O) a hazardous waste?? Because that is the only byproduct of a hydrogen fuel cell powered car.

Nah...you're definitely joking...

Got me for a second though.

Physics doesn't care about the Benjamin's..

And yes, a kid with an electrolysis kit can make hydrogen....
Now let me know when you can make and capture enough hydrogen to be useful and then compress it to 3000 psi.

Not joking worked on fuel cells for GM for a while. Government regs say it's hazardous waste. And you don't want to be dumping millions of gallons on the road when it's -10 outside.

Silly government regulations wherever you look.

Hmmm, using all that water will offset the sea water rising from global warming!

But seriously....i made a hydrogen generator pretty cheaply to go on my car. We got about a 10 percent increase in mpg. And this was with 20 bucks of materials from home depot. I DOES get hot though and uses a lot of battery power.

Looks like you found some flaws you got to fix now.

Do I have to remind you guys that Fukushima plant was using Hydrogen technology and it blew up because Hydrogen mixed with Oxygen. Product is unstable.

Here is another example of stored hydrogen blowing up.

Wow!

Just wow. I don't know why I am still surprised at the total bumbling ineptitude of governments trying to regulate anything.

It always turns into a sh#t show...
