I just spent an hour creating a thoughtful thread. It was a thread about my favorite band who are huge conspiracy theorists. I was literally adding my last YouTube link of many songs I included. Then BAM it’s gone right before I hit ‘post’! 😡

This is not the first time it’s happened either. I’m very frustrated right now... I want to do a primal scream, but I think my neighbors wouldn’t be to pleased with that.

So instead of my beautiful thought out thread — you get this rant!

I always create my threads in word and save the file, then when I post it I copy paste, format, then post.

I learned to do this the hard way because I too lost some content due to no autosave.

I’m going to rewrite the thread. I just need to calm down first.

I've had that happen more times than I can count! Drives me nuts! Now I periodically copy my post to my clipboard so if I lose something I won't lose all of it.

Working up a post in Word or something is a PITA because you don't have the same features (even if you know BBcode, which I do).

I've been burned a few times by this. Now, if I know it's going to be a lengthy thread, I type it in Word or other word processing program first. Then I just copy and paste it into ATS. Usually only have to make a few slight adjustments before posting.

I understand your anger completely. But I do not want to have unposted, unpublished posts on some other computer. This is why I think it is a bad idea.

my browser keeps it all even if the computer just crashes.

If I reload that tab after the crash, it is all there after I click on reply to the person. The textbox opens up and it is all there.

I use Brave, it is the best browser I ever had. A ATS member said it is good and I gave it a try. Even if I close the window by accident, the last session pops up again. I think somewhere that can be shut off, too.

Which is why I write up my longer threads on word and just copy paste.

There is a mysterious place, where all of these vanished threads and posts end-up.

They now reside solely in our memories.
Real, but not real.

That’s what happened. I wrote it all out, then accidentally clicked one of the tabs at the top. After that, I hit the back button. I was so surprised my content was still there. Then when I went to add the last link — it all disappeared.

I usually create mine in Gmail. The emails auto-save periodically. Then just copy and paste.

Right click, click Select all, right click, click Copy.

That's all you've got to do.

STRG A and STRG C
at random intervals.

The first one selects all text, the second one copies it to who knows where. You can get it back by using STRG V.
