because I know these folks like in the store, at church and at school.

they are not some "unknown scary force"

they are part of my Community, and do quite a bit around here.

what do you contribute to your local community?

what make YOU better than the DeVos or Prince Families??

How many millions have you given away in YOUR life.

And while Amway was seen as an almost joke in the US, they managed to get a foothold in Russia, and it was long-rumored at the Amway was actually a CIA project just to get inside Russia.

That's a c i a family if I ever saw one and that's probably why they need so many yachts.

Erik Prince works closely with the CIA, and that is public knowledge. He was actually part of the task force created by the CIA, to help in the war against terrorism. After he retired as a CIA officer.

That whole family is deeply, deeply connected.

I would much rather have multi-billionaires in charge than millionaire fraud socialists like Beto, Bernie and Warren. At least the billionaires are not trying to hide their greed and gluttony. I appreciate that fact. They also more often than not give way back more to society in the end. Beto and Bernie, they barely give anything from their tax records.

Betsy Devos is married to the person who started Amway, a multi-level marketing pyramid scheme that's fleeced thousands of not too bright people out of their money.

And her brother Erik Prince is the founder of Blackwater. I doubt anything more needs to be said about that.

This is who the Secretary of Education is..

It was ruled not a pyramid scheme by the Federal Government. Still in business.

Blackwater would not be needed if we start the draft back up. Would you prefer the draft?

Are you really going to sit here and argue in favor of MLMs? Need some essential oils or leggings?

These businesses are parasites that prey on gullible people and wipe the majority of them out financially. And we have a woman who's filthy rich because of them as Secretary of Education.

I hate Amway but it's not a pyramid scheme. This went to Federal court and they are legally not a pyramid scheme. Just saying. Believe what you want though.

I have nothing for you,” said Frank Dorman, a spokesman for the Federal Trade Commission. “Lots of reporters have asked that question. Our final response is, We’re not going to answer it.”

What had I asked that was so sensitive that the F.T.C. wouldn’t respond? I had requested that the agency explain what distinguished an illegal “pyramid scheme” from a legal multilevel marketing company.

You can argue that Amway isn't an MLM all you like. It doesn't change their business model being a pyramid. And it doesn't change all the people who have been fleeced by this company. They are the same as Herbalife, Lula Roe, all of them. The FTC being derelict in its duties doesn't mean they aren't a pyramid scheme.

A pyramid scheme is a scam. There is never any intention of keeping the system running for more than a short time. Meanwhile, Amway has been operating since 1959 and is a billion-dollar company.

It's really not hard to tell the two apart. Confusing them is like being unable to tell the difference between Bernie Madoff and Bill Gates.

Wow - great point!

I guess they figure that if they ever want to become a member of the billionaires club, they need to be tight-fisted with their hard earned corruption dollars.

Who can blame them?

She destroyed Detroit's schooling system and was primed to do the same to the rest of the country.

LOL. Let someone who is actually from Michigan (not West Virginia) tell you a bit about Detroit's public schools. They've been an unmitigated failure for decades. What your proxies in the teacher unions are griping about is charter schools, which were created to give Detroit parents a chance to send their keeps someplace halfway-decent. Should we be fixing up the public schools instead? Probably, but we've been trying since at least the 1980's, with no detectable progress, so eventually we just decided to flush the toilet and create an alternative system for the people who actually care about their kids' education.

Really?

I give that electorate an awful lot of credit for being gutsy and saying:

"I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

50 ATS Bonus points for naming the actor and movie where that line came from...

Yep. If someone thinks DeVos is the cause of Detroit's schools being horrible, I think they need to go to school there and see for themselves. Detroit Parents drive their kids miles to suburban schools every day so their kids can get a decent education.

I am amazed that anyone can defend DeVos. The fact you were so quick to jump to her defense will make me wonder what your true intent is.

This was a hell of a lot more than a computer glitch.

Really? She destroyed the cesspool that is Detroit schools? lol! That was mismanaged for decades. They let buildings run down to the point of being dangerous to have any human being in them. They have zero remorse for turning out some of the worst students in the state and she did it? That's just funny partisan blather.

Yeah, really. Do you live in Michigan? Have you been part of a school system so you get the inside track on happenings around the state? I do and have. The surrounding areas like Bloomfield Hills, Allen Park, etc. are wealthy and their schools are fine. The inner city, Pontiac, Dearborn, other close suburbs are cesspools and their schools have been horrible for a very long time.

Unless they can demonstrate DeVos personally instructed the payments continue to be persued, this goes nowhere against her. In addition, if the judge opted to "make an example" of her in a case where she was the director of the department but not personally and directly culpable, the judge would likely find herself disbarred.

This entire case will ultimately find itself tossed out and the decision reversed regardless, however. Loan forgiveness, even when it meets criteria, is at the department's discretion. It is not a "meet these criteria and automatically see the loan forgiven" situation.

ETA: For the record, I believe ALL student loans are based on fraud. Fraud by the schools that convince idiot young people a degree in artistic expression can yield enough money to pay for the loan, fraud by the student for agreeing to a loan they should be able to see their desired career will never pay for, and fraud by the government against the taxpayers for pretending this "investment" in the future does anything beneficial for the tax base.
