SQUID's, biometrics and anti terrorism in the quantum age

so obviously a little explination is required

first what us a SQUID(superconducting quantum interference device)?

basically it is a super super sensitive magnetometer that can pick up magnetic fields so small they almost doesn't exist. They almost deserve thier own thread but not in this area.

secondly what are biometrics)incase you didnt already know)? It is a set of unique identifiers everyone has like a finger print, iris, veins etc.

so what do these two seemingly unrelated things have to do with anti terrorism? Well if you are in a battle zone and you want to scan a person finger or face you need to be close to them and have them be a more or less willing participant.

if you could ID a person from a distance without their knowledge or consent and even detect hidden people thru walls and around corners it would be an amazing advantage for tracking people or letting you know exactly who was where

all humans and living things with a heartbeat put off an electric field that is easily detectable with extremely rudimentary electronics, anyone who has had an EKG know that a few stickers can pick this field up.

Well enter the SQUID's.

with one of these small and very cheap to make devices(and some other kit) you can pick up this unique field we all put off at a good distance.


sounds crazy and too much like a video game?

well the ARMY and MIT sure dont think so and have demonstrated this ability and even bragged about this ability to track ID people from a good distance and thru walls in a Forbes story

Thats why for now its best not to share your medical data with anyone. This will only be of use if someones unique signature is in the database

A very interesting read, thank you.

Things get really interesting when you start to think about using this bio-electric field to influence, or alter, the living thing generating the field.

After all, these fields are the result of on-going life processes; altering, or editing these fields should result in altering the life processes that generate them.

Sounds like the same ability the say Giants had>"Fee-Fi_fo_fum I smell the blood of an Englisman"...might mean picking up a biometric reading like a SQUID does.
