So what where the very first records that you bought? First single and album, either on vinyl or CD. Or you may have even downloaded.

Here are mine, and good to hear what yours may have been.

Single. The Kinks " You Really Got Me " 1965



Album. The Small Faces " The Small Faces " 1966

I think the first single I ever purchased myself was "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin (from the '73 movie The Sting).

First album I ever bought was "Don't Shoot me, I'm only the Piano Player" by Elton John. (It was by mistake...I really wanted Goodbye Yellow Brick Road)

As to my first album...I really can't remember, but I strongly suspect it was this one by ABBA


I wish they would get back together....but I guess we'll have to make do with the 2 movies.

it was a double purchase.
I still have the original vinyl.
Black Sabbath Paranoid album
Cheech and Chongs 1st album.

Probably Stairway...

Hard to remember exactly. Mom and dad had albums I listened too all the time...Chuck Berry, Elvis, Little Richard, Johnny Horton, Marty Robbins.

Brand new? Probably not even music...some of the very first that I bought...a Star Wars record, A Star Wars Story. A documentary type album covering the Miami Dolphins 1972 undefeated season. WLS's Animal Stories as told by Uncle Lar and Li'l Tommy. A Steve Martin album, live standup and the King Tut song. I still remember...Grandpaaaaaaa...bought a rubber! lol

The first singles(45's) I bought...I bought 3 one day. Cheap Trick's If You Want My Love. One by Fleetwood Mac...do not remember which one it was. And Take Off by Bob and Doug McKenzie (characters from SCTV).

I don't remember the first single I bought but the first album was definitely a Partridge Family album with their hit song "I Think I Love You".

LOL, my first 45 was Cool and the gang "celebrate", and first 33 album was a K-tel album called "pure rock". I had gotten a few Elvis albums before that, but I didn't buy them.

I love hearing the whistle at the beginning of "jungle love".

I bought it with my paper route money. Just after I got the Emerson Wildcat record player needed to hear all this wonderful music.

I'm feeling a bit dated at the moment.

I think my first single was cut off the back of a box of cereal. Cant recall what is was though.

The first 45 I remember buying was "Hey Jude" by the Beatles.
I am having to go back at least 50 years in my memory.
