What's Your "Social Credit Score"???

mylife does it on their own. I never even heard of them before I did a search. You are on mylife wether you like it or not. Go to mylife and search yourself and your family and friends. You have a score on there unless maybe your in school.

Counting all my posts to ATS, I would say it's around a billion.

When I moved out of town, there were some changes I had to make of the usual things.

New mailing address
New address on drivers license
New bank, though I kept my bank from work
New friends and family
...and so on.

I have a rather unusual name - I don't mean Rajesh Kuthrapolli, or McFlownoe McFlooneyLoo unusual, but not popular when I was born.

I felt as though there may not be anyone in the state with my exact name, first, MI and Last.

Get this.

Two doors down from my office - I had moved over to a new department - was a person with my EXACT First, MI and Last.

Yes his middle name was spelled differently by one letter. (an 'e' vs an 'a' in one place).

In my same employer there was a person with my exact First and Last (Middle Initial was E, though).

AND to make things worse, several of the agencies had already mixed us up, so that when I went to do a Re-Fi, the agency, who didn't bother to check the SS# had me as the 'Other Guy' (with the E middle Initial).

They were going to throw me a retirement party and...yep, sent the invite to the guy three doors down.

I would get mail addressed to both of them.

I shudder to think if my name was 'John'. Or my last name was 'Jones'.

I think in Vietnam there must be a million Nguyen. I wanted to find a friend who had moved house. Both were VN, and both had Nguyen as their last name.

So, yeah, we need about 100 layers of 'ID confirmation' and '10 hashing formulas' or more, not JUST a SS# or a Name, or a DL or an Age, or a Location.

As to social score, let's be honest. In a city of a Million people (as an easy calculation), I'd say half of them were below the median of unsavory, unpleasant, criminal, substance abusers, kick their dog, wife, traffic tickets.

For those who have never been arrested and/or convicted of anything or never had a speeding ticket, or never had a parking ticket - basically 'squeaky clean', the thing that would throw them off the bus would be a mistake.

I got extremely good at pretending. My instagram was slamming when I was doing that #. Sloots love the gym bros. None of my accounts where I post # have ever been linked. I saw this day coming.

Or start a Victory garden and start riding a bicycle or learn to walk again.

Why not go both routes? It doesn't seem unwise to grow that garden but also acquire the rest through more salt of the Earth means.

That sounds a lot like that Black Mirror episode, where everybody is judged by ranking their encounters with others on social media software. Great episode, by the way.

Yeah I think we'd all be screwed. We'd be in a prison camp with no freedoms when it's all over just cause we associate with "conspiracy theories".


Funny though... This could actually happen in some crazy future where something huge is set off by just one wacko who links themselves to ATS. Man, we'd all be called out. We'd be a considered a cult, people would hack our information and make it public, we'd be questioned by the FBI and maybe even rounded up and tossed in a cell somewhere.

This is happening on a low scale in my country. Your debt is monitored and if you have a late payment against you, it will impact your credit score.

Previous to this, credit scores were only impacted when you were in collections, and then when the collections was sent to a debt recovery agency.

Now, if you are LATE on a payment, and the company you owe decides to mark you down as a late payment, it will mark against your credit score! So you're fuct before you get fuct.

Lesson learned I guess, don't get into much debt. Credit is evil.

What they are creating is an artificial construct, which means we can live without it. Maybe people should react to this by completely boycotting those responsible.
