So are we heading for a new civil war?
yvancross.blogspot.com...
As noted in the article, civilizations are held together by fragile social bonds. If those are fractured then we return to the law of the jungle. Look at Libya today - that is what a "modern" civil war would look like. And one thing to keep in mind, even a small breakdown in society could destroy the infrastructure enough that people would starve, especially in the food deserts we call urban areas. Are we on our way to this future?

Civil War:
No, I don't think so. First of all, the majority of Americans live a life of comfort. Life here in America is not hard, comparatively. While politics and social issues have greatly defended Americans, I don't think we are anywhere CLOSE to a civil war.
The worse I could see happening is the vitriol and anger getting worse and worse....building more and more, until you start to see Far left and Far right groups spring up , and clash which each other in greater frequency. The vast majority of Americans, however, will still be content sitting on their couches, arguing from the sidelines.
Civil War would really only happen in the US if the economy completely tanked. And if that did happen, I think we'd have bigger problems to worry about than civil war.
It won't happen here.
Like someone else said, who are YOU personally willing to kill, right now, because they support Donald Trump? Or because they support Hillary Clinton? Sure, we might argue with co-workers, friends on social media, family, etc. But very few people are actual extremists, where they are far enough Right or far enough Left to want to actually start some kind of revolution or rebellion through violent or any means necessary.

Remember Lincoln's words, a house divided against itself cannot stand. We are seeing a breakdown in marriage, fraternal and religious groups losing members, and people isolating themselves into internet ghettos where they tell each other how special they are for having extreme hate and then directing that hate to the "outsiders."
True, when people have their food, porn and jobs they are not likely to go crazy, but if the economy were to go, or if the Democrats get in and start taking people's rights away, then that is when things can get really bad.

The fact is your average American ,the silent sane majority, do not look forward to,or fantasize about shedding their neighbors blood in the streets.

Of course not. They've got their heads glued into their cell-phones and are utterly clueless of their surroundings and what's going on in America today. That's part of the problem. "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."

What do you think the solution to the problem is?
