There has been an increasing and deserved amount of concern about the Patriot Act and how it affects society.
The overwhelming thought in this site is that the act is bad. And I wonder why?
Concerns are pretty similar...
Wire taps without warrants
Illegal search and seizure(sic)
The "slippery slope" idea that this is just the beginning of a police state forced on us by Bush and a right wing administration.
The questions I want to ask are...
Habeus Corpus was halted during the civil war by a Republican Administration and promptly restored at wars end. Was this a right wing conspiracy by
one of America's greatest presidents?
Is this thought of fear running through the civil libertarians largely the result of anti war/anti bush feelings?
Now I want to stress, I do not want blind allegiance to anyone.
