She explained confusion over Galicia's nationality stemmed from a tourist visa issued when he was a child and the fact that his mother used an assumed name on Francisco's birth certificate.
perhaps if his mother hadn't falsified documents his verification period would have been much less
or are you advocating out leos not verify documents?

Oh so as long as one of them has accurate documents that is ok?

if you say so.......
IMO if his mom simply would not made phony documents this would not have happened.
"However," she said, "[CBP] has access to a database where they can check that Francisco was born here in the U.S. It shouldn't have been a problem.
Additionally, Galicia said he was constantly harassed by officers trying to coerce him into signing a deportation order. And each time he asked to make a phone call to his mother, to let her know where he was, "the officers told him that he had no right to an attorney while he was in Border Patrol custody and no right to make a phone call," she added.
Meanwhile, Marlon Galicia agreed to self-deport after two days. Although he is a minor, his mother was not informed. He is now living in Tamaulipas, Mexico, with his grandmother.

He was with his Brother, that should mean something if the Bro was legal.
Why this?

Did you miss this part of the OP...."Two of them were immediately cleared but Galicia's 17-year-old brother and another boy, were in the country illegally. They were detained. "

It says his Mother is undocumented in one article and she plans to sue, why have they not picked her up?
She has one undocumented kid and they keep the citizen kid and why the Mother untouched by this?
The whole business is like a witch hunt they take who they want to take, don't like the look of you or how you use a tone to them or anything and you are the one.

She plans to file a civil lawsuit against the government for what she believes is Francisco Galicia's wrongful detention. She's also trying to reverse Marlon's voluntary removal. "Border patrol should not have allowed [Marlon], a minor, to sign for his own deportation so I am looking into bringing him back," she said.

Galicia, 18, was in a van with his brother Marlon and three other high school friends on June 27. They were on their way to Houston for a recruitment event when they were stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Falfurrias, Texas — about 50 miles from home and within the corridor of the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector.
Officials wanted to know their legal status. Their answers varied.

Oh look, what everyone said was going to happen is happening. ICE is now rounding up anyone that looks Hispanic and deporting them. Of course this will probably get better. I mean I'm sure Trump's new order that allows for expedited deportation won't see any US citizens kicked out of the country.
Let's ask Julio Ovalle what his thoughts are on this new policy. He was only wrongfully deported and then kidnapped by the cartels. I'm sure he can speak very highly of ICE and their thoroughness on validating a person's citizenship.

Are we to assume he is legal when he is in a car with 2 illegals?
No but he had his ID and births are a second to check if you have a state and city.
