Oh for the love of Rao, can Cruise just...stop? I mean, let him go buy an island somewhere and just stop? In fact, while I do have a certain fondness for these nostalgia movies - I plan on being first in line to see Ghostbusters 3 - there comes a point where enough is enough.

Second, Captains do not fly. You are done flying after the Commander level where you can be C.O. of a squadron.

The Navy has this neat billet called CAG, or Commander of the Air Group. It’s an O-6 billet. And a flight billet. It’s been that way since the 80s.

WTF??? How many CAGS are there? About as many as CWO5's right? LIKE I SAID, most all Naval officers RETIRE at O6 or O5. Hardly any make flag rank. For this insufferable two star to take Pete to task for "not making two star" is stupid in context of reality. Why isn't that old two star a four star or CNO? Not that the entire franchise is not a fantasy, but that stretches the suspension of disbelief, IMFO.

Glad they're using practical effects for the most part, should be entertaining as most have said, Cruise does put out a good action movie.

First you say captains don’t fly. Then when we see they can and do fly, you change it to “yes but not very many of them!” and start rambling about retirement which I didn’t even address in my comment. Mandatory retirement is at 62. Ed Harris will be almost 70 when the movie is released. Guess they should have found a younger actor for the role. O-6s are limited to 30 years service if they don’t make flag. Ed Harris says Cruise’s character has been in 30+ years. Guess Cruise should’ve made the movies closer together.

It’s fiction, not a documentary.

Aside from not, in any way, shape, or form, needing you to explain the naval service to me I can only point out that if you’re this irate over a trailer you must be a real joy to watch two hour long movies with.

You whine about Cruise being involved in a sequel to Top Gun, yet the very next sentence, you state you have "a certain fondness for these nostalgia movies" and that you'll be the "first in line to see Ghostbusters 3."

Yes friken awesome, mind blowing, it may have been a long long long time coming but i for one am glad as the quality of it will be wetning.
