My own personal Mandela effect story

Well, yesterday I was thinking about an old friend, Mike, that had passed away back in what I remembered as 2004. I was thinking about if he had an obituary. I seem to remember reading it, but I didn't save a copy of it. So I went online to see if I could find a copy of it. I could not find it! ??? So I expanded the search to include 2003; since I knew that he had passed away about 6 months after my mother had.

Well the search results came up with his date of passing as Feb. 1, 2003, and his mother in July 6, 2003. Well the months and days seem correct, but the year should have been 2004. Because my mother (not his) passed in Aug. 2003. So the 6 month gap is right, but not in the right direction. I looked up the details on several places, they all match as he and his mother passing in 2003. Mike in Feb. and his mother in July. My mother passed in Aug. 2003. This is weird.

I ask my brother about what he remembered. I didn't give him any details first. I didn't want to front load him. He recalled the same as I did. He remembered that Mike could not attend our mother's funeral because he was too ill from cancer (or the throat). We both recalled that Mike had passed before his mother, which is sad, because no parent should have to see their child go before they do. Also, my brother recalled visiting Mike with his wife and kids before coming to our mother's funeral, which his wife confirmed.

Now, a few days before Mike passed away I flew into town to see him one last time. I spent a few hours with him and his wife. I wish it could have been more, but he needed rest and they were expecting some relatives to drop by later. So I had several hours kill until my return flight. Mike's is only a little over a mile from where my mother lived, so I decided to walk over there to kind of reminisce. There was a restaurant on the ground floor of the apartment building she had lived in that we had given a lot of the tropical plants she had to. I wanted to get something to eat, and see if they had kept the plants. Well, sure enough they had. The plants were doing well, and the food was good.

So to tie this all up; Myself, my family, my brother and his wife all remember Mike passing away approx. 6 months after my mother who passed in Aug 2003. Then Mike's mother passing away about 6 months after Mike. But now all records show Mike and his mother passing in 2003, not 2004. I could see if there was a typo in some record or paper for one of them, Mike or his Mother, but not both and in multiple places and documents. This just seems like some sort of weird Mandela effect twilight zone thing. This is the first time I've had a Mandela effect thing hit so close to home. I've experienced many more, but this one really got me big time.

Thank you for sharing this personal account. So many of the Mandela Effect accounts are of events and people not known to us personally, so an actual detailed description with your brother's corroboration makes this very interesting indeed.

Someone will be along shortly, however, to poo-poo your story and insist that yours and your brother's memories are faulty.

Check headstones (or Plaques) and death certificates. The official narrative should clear things up.

The point with Mandela Effect is that everything is changed. For this to be possible, we have to be in either a simulation or a multiple/parallel realities kind of situation which is either just starting to intermingle, or people are just noticing it. (If its real.)

Yeah, man. Im not completely certain how I feel about the Mandela effect outside of it being an interesting sociological topic. However, I've had a few personal things occur that are quite odd, and they do lead me to wonder about some oddball ideas sometimes.

An example of my own actually got me into trouble recently. My wife's birthday used to be June 21st. Well... now it's the 22nd.

I know was the 21st. I got it right for years before this! The way I always remembered when we were dating is... she and my nephew are exactly 6 months apart to the day. My nephew is the exact number of days before Christmas as my sister is after Christmas, and my sister is exactly 1 month after my own.

Not this year. In fact, I dug my hole deeper and made my wife show me her driver's license because I thought she was just messing with me.

This is the first time in our relationship that I got the day wrong. It blew my mind.

I definitely believe your account because of my own.

I agree some strange things have been happening.

My experience is with my kitchen sink. I live in an apartment and a few months back maintenance replaced the faucet on the kitchen sink.

The old faucet was the type with a single lever type that you move left or right to adjust the temperature. The new faucet has separate hot and cold knobs.

I made a mental note that the hot was on the right and cold was on the left. No particular reason kinda subconsciously I suppose but I know that's how it was.

A few weeks ago I mentioned to my girlfriend it seems the faucets on the kitchen sink have changed sides. Now the hot is on the left and cold is on the right.

She doesn't know for sure but I am positive they have changed. Not a big deal just a little bit weird.

The Uniform Plumbing Code now requires that faucets “shall be connected to the water distribution system so that hot water corresponds to the left side of the fittings. This is a convention throughout North America. If it's an apartment maybe they hooked it up wrong and realized it later and corrected it.

Either way original houses only had 1 faucet the reason hot water is on the left is they created kits to add hot water. These kits had brackets that brought the second line in from the left. This was done because there are more righthanded people then left

cremation makes it hard to check head stones. I haven't had a chance to look up death certificates yet; but I did get to look up Mike's mother's funeral home, and the date they have is also July 7, 2003 for receiving the body. I couldn't find Mike's info. Maybe that is because is actual first name was Steve, and his middle name as Mike. But he always went by Mike every since he was a little kid because apparently there was another Steve in his neighborhood, and he preferred to go by Mike anyway.

Being that maintenance doesn't have permission to enter my apartment unless I'm home I doubt they would sneak in just to switch the knobs.

Your creative writing skills are really good. Cool story. Welcome to ATS. You kinda messed up on this part though. You've got a grip of evidence to the point that there's no reasonable explanation for your discovery of the mandela effect in your personal life.

If you saved your flight ticket receipt or contacted the company to confirm the date of the flight, you'd have irrefutable proof of an unknown force re-writing history for absolutely no reason. What difference would it make if he passed away a year before or after the date that he passed on?

Why would this unknown force re-write the timeline for one man passing away? How would that affect the dates of everyone else who passed away on that day? Did it go into the records of reality because it was bored and decide to change his death by a year for fun?

You should call the airlines customer service and request a receipt from the date that you made the trip to see Mike. Then you'd know for sure if history was re-written or if you and those you asked have it wrong. Then, the question is asked as to why you came here to write a long story about it as if you aren't sure in extreme detail.

If such a thing happened to me, I would've gone bonkers until I figured out the truth. I wouldn't keep every detail of the memory and rehash it on a conspiracy theory forum however many years later like "hmm, I wonder if this was the mandela effect". According to your story it's already obviously a real phenomenon. What were you expecting to gain from replies to this? They're going to help you figure it out even though you're the only one who was there to experience it?

Like the rider of the dragons said: plumbing code says that the hot-water faucet goes on the left.

Was it installed by a plumbing company, or building maintenance?
If just the building guy: is he a hack, or does he do good work in other kinds of jobs?
He would have to be a hack to have put the hot on the right.

Would you be willing to consider that it might be a misremembering?

Personally don't trust my memory at all, but that's just me.

Of course I could be mistaken but I just remember the night when I was at the sink and it seemed like they were switched. This was several weeks after the new faucet had been installed. I had been using it on a daily basis for weeks then all of a sudden I notice the hot and cold knobs are reversed.

As far as the installation it was done by apartment maintenance but this is a fairly large property with over 500 units.

Well, for one I posted it just to put it out there. like I said, I've experienced Mandela effects before, but this one hit home where I live so to speak. Also, since you mentioned it, I did go back to see if I had a copy of airline receipt. I did, and now things are really getting weird. I only ever did a one day flight once in my life. And it was to see Mike before he passed away. My visa bill receipt and airline receipt both say Jan. 28, 2005! Mike passed away according to my memory in Feb. 1, 2004, but records say Feb. 1, 2003.

Things are getting really strange for me. I have the email receipt from my airline ticket. The date of the email, and the ticket both match, and as stated before, I've only made one day flight ever. I don't fly very often; can count them all with both hands with a finger or two to spare.

What the hell is going on? The months and days match up, but not the years.

It must have been a solid mental WTF moment.
Have had those surreal double-whammies quite a few times.
Maybe that's why they just get written-off, as my bad memory, and maybe some others do the same as well.

Would think there is a high probability that that kind of maintenance would be rather experienced. Could still be young newbie, or a hack anyways.

That’s just one thing that one person ‘noticed’ after the timeline had changed. Maybe a huge event in your life changed too but you don’t noticed because the change was seamless.

Like that scene in the matrix with the cat. Where a change had been made in the program and just one person happened to notice just one funny little change, although another more significant change had occurred.

I’m not saying I believe in the effect or not. But it’s not entirely impossible.

And I don’t care what anyone says, it was fcuken ‘Berenstein’!

The problem with 2005 is that both myself and my and his wife recall it being only 6 months not 18 months. Now as for my mother's date, I only really checked it online today as a sanity check to see if it was still the same. It is.

Now on to something that may explain the flip-flopping of dates. Or at least point to something. Have you ever heard of the Princeton Eggs or the Global Consciousness Project? Well, my son was just telling me about it having a big spike into the RED. It maxed out off the chart for a bit then dipped down then back up and down again. But what he didn't say, he is a kid, you focused on the red, was that it had a long period of off the chart LOW in the BLUE just prior. These variances, when they are extreme usually indicate something significant. I wonder if Mandela effects can be correlated to GCP DOT variances? I guess the real problem here is identifying the particular Mandela effect in real-time in order to get the proper correlation. But maybe I just got lucky over this past 24 hrs because I happened to be doing this thread. Who knows. Just a thought.
