I think "ham and eggs", in our sense of the word "ham", may be a thing in some localities.
I encountered it when some of my father's Lincolnshire relatives were coming to stay, and I heard my mother listing "ham and eggs" among the breakfast
provisions she would need to have ready. I assume the ham was eaten cold. If it was an occasional English rural habit, then it could have been carried
to America.
