Ethnic minority militants in Baluchistan province in the southwest have sustained a low-level insurgency for decades but they have recently stepped
up attacks on transport, power and telephone lines and gas production facilities.
In a separate attack, militants fired rockets at a telecommunications tower in the same region, causing some damage, police said.
Baluchi tribesmen want jobs and more royalties for the natural resources being taken from the region. They recently attacked the gas field at Sui in
retaliation for the rape of a woman doctor at the gas field. Musharraf brought thousands of troops in response.

This is a fair point, if natural resources are being taken from the region, why shouldn’t they receive something back? These people need greater
political and economic rights and this seems to be the only way of them getting their point across. If they are just trying to earn an honest living
and find a good job then why not let them? Hopefully something can be sorted between the militants and the government.
