Hey, I'm Auldacquaintance. Like many other newcomers, I've been a somewhat long-time lurker and observer in the site that is hoping to be a more hands-on participant in the future. My relationship to conspiratorial thinking is one of love and hate, for so long I have been prone to looking at world events through a narrativist lens; this is just how I am. The peak of my paranoia and political fervor took place in 2016, and it plateaued after that. Mainly because I decided it was in my best interests not to get bogged down in narratives and ideas which mentally handicapped me. In turn, I chose to abandon the various fringe communities I had frequented in favor of deliberately bluepilling myself. Now that a lot of my peripheral mental health issues have been resolved, I think it's high-time that I reinvest in something that brought a sense of purpose to my life, something that impassioned me; that is, to look beneath the distortions of truth that we're offered by mainstream institutions and engage in conversation with like-minded folks. Maybe there'll be room for heated debate, too.

I'm best characterized as a Paleoconservative with traditionalist leanings, but previously I'd have considered myself an anarcho-capitalist or right-libertarian. Looking at the transformation of our social order which went along with the industrial revolution (something I've figured after having read Industrial Society and Its Future, as much as I do appreciate modern amenities and technologies; I have no illusions about technocratic utopias or reversionist ludditism), and how that has lent itself to the development of unassailable power structures, how we might go about infiltrating them and using pragmatism to accomplish our ends of transparency in the government and social institutions, is another interest of mine. It's my responsibility to live out a life envisaged by none other than Aristotle, to ensure that every little thing I do is properly counterbalanced by something else, to live a good life is a life of temperance and regarding the self as much as you regard others. With this in mind, I have no tolerance for ideologies that reek of egoism or altrustic utilitarianism. Both are inherently flawed, because in the absence of a cultural sense that we have an ultimate end-point, in the absence of a unifying principle like God, we are lost. If all meta-narratives are vulnerable to scrutiny of the intellect, then what do we have? The world is in turmoil not because of postmodernism as most public intellectuals would have you believe, the problem extends further back than that. If modernism yielded postmodernism, then the latter was embedded in the former from the start. Modernity is flawed by design. In spite of this, I have a high amount of reverence for the United States of America and many of its founding principles, I would call myself a patriotically-minded person. But there is necessity for vast reformation and an overhaul of how we view our history as a nation, that is the only way we can preserve the Union.

My interests are in philosophy, historical revisionism and narrativism, political ideologies, conspiracy theories, and psychology. In particular, I enjoy the work of psychoanalysts like Carl Jung, Jacques Lacan, and Jean Piaget. The ultimate trio of mind-boggling insight that I was introduced to by their contemporaries, e.g. Robert L. Moore, Jordan Peterson, Slavoj Zizek, among many others. My application of these ideas to politics and conspiracies now drives a more tempered approach to the world at large, where before my personal journey into psychological well-being it was all extremely chaotic to me. Maybe it's more that I projected my mind's disarray onto the world, that was reflected in my tendencies toward psychological extremism.

I'm more prepped to deal with harsh realities now and to emerge from the cultural cave I've placed myself in. Here's hoping that I'll be able to contribute something valuable at some point, but more importantly (and more probably) that I'll learn lots from the folks around here. I'll be seeing you.

Wow, your post is as long as mine are, although, not quite as boring as mine are.

Welcome to the site. You will need to work on making them boring someday.

Welcome! Conspiratorial thinking is a love/hate relationship for me
As well.

But joining this site and participating is by far not the worst decision I’ve ever made.

Wanna know what was? Watching a season of the bachelor so I could have something to chit chat about during lunch with coworkers. It left a bad taste in my mouth I’ll never spit out!

Hopefully you’ll find your time here to be of value as well!
