Emilia Clarke defends Dany’s reaction to GoT bombshell

www.news.com.au... c3d4

“Daenerys Targaryen reacted strangely when given some earth shattering news in the most recent Game of Thrones episode but Emilia Clarke explains all…

…But Dany focused on something else entirely: that Jon has a better claim to rule Westeros.

But fans were left puzzled by Dany’s odd reaction — instantly focusing on to threat to her claim to rule the Seven Kingdoms instead of how it impacts her relationship with Jon. So much so that Clarke has come out in defence of her character.”

Who are these short attention span fans that are being puzzzzzzzald? What's there to explain?

Hellllo – follow the character and stop trying to multi-task when enjoying a good programme – sure it takes some work, but it ain’t “modern family” with one dimensional characters and repeating plots week in week out.

Star reveals awkward truth about controversial GoT sex scene

www.news.com.au... b052f10d1d5

“ Fans complained they found Maisie Williams’ Game of Thrones sex scene deeply uncomfortable — and her new revelation won’t help things.

After fans took to Twitter to call Maisie Williams’ Game of Thrones sex scene “uncomfortable”, the actress told fans she had way more cause to feel awkward about it.

“if u feel uncomfortable just know that my mother and my step dad and my 2 sisters and my 4 brothers have all probably watched this too ahahakillmeehehe,” Williams tweeted on Tuesday.

During the second episode of Game of Thrones season 8, Williams’ character Arya Stark, who’s now 18 years old, has sex with Gendry on the eve of the Battle of Winterfell. In real life, Williams is 22.”

Following the episode’s events, many fans took to social media to talk about the scene, and while many were happy about the pairing, others were not.

“I felt really uncomfortable with that arya/gendry sex scene. for the majority of this show this cast and crew has filmed and worked with maisie as a child. really don’t know why it was necessary for her to take her clothes off as soon as she becomes of age,” one user wrote.

Another added, “Call me crazy, but it felt so weird watching Arya’s sex scene. Idk but I always see her as my little sister and I was so uncomfortable during that scene.”

You are crazy – she is no more your little sister than a naked Jon Snow is your bigly brother – And more importantly if you listened and observed they’re looking at death in the eye approaching the break of dawn.

Ever hear the old saying “eat drink and make love for tomorrow we die”?

But I suspect half this sheez and hysterics is put out by the producers themselves for ratings.

You know what really sucks about GOT? The Iron Bank.
What a way to crush a fantasy by getting the bank involved.
In the end, it doesn't matter who sits on the throne. The Iron Bank owns everything.

You yourself seem a little worked up. I’m a big fan, it takes a big commitment of time to know this fictional world. We have a lot invested in this story.
I felt really weird watching her get it on! But, I think that’s part of the point. I’m getting really anxious and nervous wondering what they are going to these people I’ve grown to know, love, and hate.
In the first few seasons you expected all your favorites to die. But now? I guess kill Cersei and Sansa but leave the rest alone!!

Ps- I bet I’m wrong

Ps Ps- you should feel weird watching Arya doin the deed.

I think the problem most people have is they project their own feelings and morals on to characters in a TV show based in another time and place. Modern morals and feelings don’t mean much in the shows setting.

As for Arya, she is 18 in the show and 22 in RL. In medieval times she would have been married with three kids by now. Her finally having sex and showing a little butt is really conservative if taken in context.

What the heck did everyone see that I didn’t? A little bit of side boob and the top of her ass? She wasn’t even technically naked.

Honestly, in the context of the show and time period depicted, she would have been married off as soon as she got her first period. I don't get the outrage either but haters gonna hate I guess.

Well I think this is a good sign for society at large if lots of people think this because it means that they aren't so foregone that they don't care about someone that they have seen grow up from a young child to a late teen. Many probably think of her as a sister, maybe think of her better than their sisters (b/c she's cool for the most part). In a world where people watch "barely legal" XXX porn, I see this as a good sign. Now if we could only have this carry over to other sectors of entertainment and maybe the degeneracy of pornography will loose it's grip on some people.

As for what she did, I completely understand why she did, who knows if that is the last night they will ever see and IIRC she met Gendry in episode 5-7 of season 1 when Hot Pie was going to beat her azz and take Needle and Gendry saved her.

I think anyone who has been a fan of the show felt uncomfortable - in a "good" way (protective IMO). Either way looking forward to next episode!

Yeah cant remember which season they introduced it - but I was then thinking to myself what a clever way for the audience to understand that behind most wars there is a hidden hand that makes these wars happen.

Many people seem to complain about this last episode (#2), but I think it was a quite realistic view on people who know that their estimated chance to survive the next day is about nill.

Some will mourn, many will try to reproduce/have sex a last time, some will try to build up courage by bonding and talking with close people who they might fight side by side tomorrow.

To me, this was completely relatable.

If some people think that they cannot look at a nude butt of a girl they knew since childhood, well, its part of the story, and they are prude ignorants.

I saw this video below in another thread - and it made me feel like saying "STFU", therefore thread created.

And yes I have invested 7 years following and that was my whole point. If people can't see...

But fans were left puzzled by Dany’s odd reaction — instantly focusing on to threat to her claim to rule the Seven Kingdoms instead of how it impacts her relationship with Jon.

......that its a series of familial legacies, intermarriage and marriages of convenience, all for power, but rather a choice of love - well then why do they not see the significance of Daenerys choices and dilemma?

If this "non-sourced fan base" was perhaps too young and can't see that Daenarys acts like a queen before acting the lover then what the hell?

Now on to Arya.....

Ps Ps- you should feel weird watching Arya doin the deed

This was my response. Read it slowly and in context.

How do you know how I felt? Projecting much? See the bolded bit? I'm not the one claiming I grew up with Aida and that she feels like a sister to me.

I feel more weird and triggered getting slammed by some words from a Texan with a Die Antwood avatar -

Its just a show - but nonetheless a great one

Thank you and lets not forget even in recent modern time children as young as 14 are getting married around the world.

Applying Western modern values to a pre-industrial fictional medieval world is stooopid.

Not bad points - she grew up fast after the death of her father; travelling, training to kill, without much help form her siblings.

And the funny thing is that she was the instigator, seizing the moment. Why wasn't this mentioned in the critique. But I think even though she's 18 in the show - its her small stature that blurs the lines in peoples minds.

What about the incest between Cersei and her brother right from the get go? Or the guy north of the wall having sex with his daughters and sacrificing his sons to undead.
How did you continue watching past that?

I read the books before GOT was even a thing, I’m disappointed the franchise took over and continued the story before the long awaited book 5 ever came out.

You'd think people would applaud about Arya finally showing enough normalcy to thaw enough to be able to feel something that human. Her life has been pretty effed from a young age, not that most of the rest of them haven't had it tough.

Arya said it herself, she wanted to feel what it was like in case there was no tomorrow. To go on about Aryas sex scene as awkward but forget about the cold blooded killing she's been doing. Well.
But if you noticed the awkwardness between Jon Snow and Daenerys was forgotten in the last scene when Jon Snow nodded to Daenerys and she obeyed him. He is the king.

So much that someone posted about it.

The triggered triggers a now triggered.

How much triggering can a triggered trigger trigger if a triggered trigger could trigger triggers.

Who cares what anyone thinks?

Who cares if people put a little of themselves in a character? We all do it. if you don't, you're not really immersing yourself in the story. We will always see a little of ourselves in the characters. Ariya was a symbol of innocence corrupted. I found it a little sad that she had to take her clothes off for the masses and at the same time, a little excited. It's like looking at a porn star and saying, "You're better than this... Why porn??? You're so beautiful!". ...and continue watching because she's so hot and sexy and you just want to see what her boobs look like.

Admit it... Ya'll wanted to see her boobs no matter how awkward it was. Dunno if I'd wanna be that guy she was charging. That would be pretty brutal to endure. Especially while she's a virgin AND dominating. Hah!

Watch the bloody show the way YOU want to watch it and don't give a rat's @$$ about what other people think and how they want you to watch the show. Take from it the way you want.

Personally, I saw "Danny" take the news that Jon was a half breed in a way that reflected a threat on her rule. Maybe also a little problem that realized that she's his aunt and they've been bumping uglies. I also felt... Look &!^#.... Aren't you in love with him anyways? Wont ya'll be ruling together? and... Ya'll prolly gonna die anyways, why ya worried? But at the same time I can understand any threat she may feel. She was going to accomplish her one true goal, her one destiny, or so she thought, and along comes someone that takes the only thing she's ever had to feel important away from her. That would be pretty darn world shattering.
