Strange writing covering the walls appear only during strobe light in the dark

A number of years ago I was in an older house trying to go to sleep, I had been in bed for about 2 hours not being able to feel calm or comfortable as I was tossing & turning and couldn't stop thinking (really bad anxiety) and had somewhat a feeling of fear. I grabbed my flashlight which is an LED and I accidentally turned it on the strobe setting. Now the room was completely dark, absolutely no lights (none, not tiny LED's or anything) so it was pitch black and my eyes had been used to the dark.

When the strobe came on I didn't notice anything until I blinked a couple times and when I was closing my eyes I noticed what seemed to be the walls covered with writing. I'd say the writing was 2" to 5-6" in height and there was some symbols and foreign text, some might have been latin or some other language. It seemed most of it was black with a little blue & red writing. The background color of the wall also seemed to change from wood panel to all white (slight blue tint from the LED color). Now I could only see the writing when I would really squint with the strobe light on, it completely dissipated when the light was turned on completely. Turning the strobe back on I couldn't see the writing with my eyes wide open and I never really thought about why this might be. When you squint it opens the pupil to allow more light in. IDK if it changes the wave length that can be seen or if other wave lengths are filtered in some way but there is also the eye lashes that interfere with the light entering which also filters light.

So after seeing this I kept turning the light on and off for about an hour and it always came back with the light strobing. After seeing that I had to sleep in another room and I didn't see the writing in that room nore did I feel the anxity and uncomfortableness as in the other room and this was even after just experiencing that.

To me it felt like I was seeing writing on a wall that had been painted over or covered up with the wood paneling. The writing seemed like something you would see in a serial killer movie or some satanic/Mansom cult movie. I'd like to go back some time with a black light or some other kind of light that shows different spectrums (maybe red, green, yellow, etc) and see if I see this again. I did do the same thing the next night and could see it again, but I was alone so I didn't have anyone else to verify that it could be seen. IDK if it would be possible to capture what I saw with a video recorder, maybe by partially covering the lens to restrict the light. I would think that a faster speed of recording might have a better chance of capturing the image - though IDK.

Has anyone else ever seen something like this? I have no idea how to explain it

Yeah man. All the time.

So...was it paper, gel or sugar?
Seriously though - wood panel does some weird things in dim lighting - it's your eyes though trying to interpret the grain pattern without enough light - your brain starts filling in the gaps.

I was anxious, couldn't sleep so I hit the strobe light.

Then I saw satanic serial killer writing. I was already freaked out, then the strobe didn't help, but for some reason I found the horror movie writing interesting so I played with the strobe flicking it on and off in the room, scared and alone.

I looked at the writing for an hour but I didn't write any of it down, no clue what it was. I never felt like the house had spirits in it before, not sure how they got the writing on the wall like that. Must've been a strobe marker you can only see with a strobe light.

I went into another room to sleep because I got bored. I wasn't anxious and I was able to sleep finally. Not sure why it worked considering there was cryptic writing on the wall in the other room and evil forces in the house.

I think the spirit(s) are confined to a radius.

I have noticed stuff like that using various sunglasses and black lights. Looking at LCD displays and tinted glass through sunglasses is a bit trippy. You can see stress lines in plastic and the otherwise invisible window tinting on auto glass.

Black light is good for looking for those "naughty spots" left behind by pets in carpet which are otherwise invisible.

And with a good digital camera and Photoshop if you change the contrast and other settings you can see stuff that's invisible to the naked eye too.

And somewhere on this site there is a story about early night vision goggles used by the US Army in Vietnam where the wearers stated they could see monsters flying along with them on night raids. Something about them using red instead of green.

A bit like the movie "From Beyond". They could see the monsters in another dimension when a machine with tuning forks was turned on.

Why are two different members(?) telling the same story?

Not sure whats going on with the stobe light requirement
in order to see the writing. But perhaps the squinting
is having a polarizing effect on the light.
I say go back to the location with some polarizing
filters and a variable speed strobe light.
Take pics with polarizing filter on camera.
Experiment with different camera aperture and
shutter speed, as well as strobe light flash rate.

You could probably build a strobe light circuit
cheap. And for polarizing filter get some cheap
lcd display from an old calculator, cell phone, etc.
Tear off the reflective backing on the lcd display
and you now have a light polarizer.

Watch this video and you will see why I think
light polarization may have something to
do with your experience.:

Oh, and you may have to experiment with the slit spacing
in your polarizer. Maybe slits the size of a squinting eye
will be the answer .
To "see" what I"m talking about, watch the microwave
polarizer demo in this video.:

Remember to rotate the polarizers and note change.
Also try squinting and tiltng tilting your head .
