During a visit to Maryland, President Bush basically told Syria to pack up and leave Lebanon alone. The Presidents remarks came in referance to
Secratary of State Rice and French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier's Tuesdays press conference from London.

Arnold, Md. — U.S. President George W. Bush demanded in blunt terms Wednesday Syria get out of Lebanon, saying the free world is in agreement that
Damascus's authority over the political affairs of its neighbor must end now.
“Both of them stood up and said loud and clear to Syria, ‘You get your troops and your secret services out of Lebanon so that good democracy has a
chance to flourish,” Mr. Bush said during an appearance at a community college in Maryland to tout job-training programs.
The world, Mr. Bush said, “is speaking with one voice when it comes to making sure that democracy has a chance to flourish in Lebanon.”

It is good to see some fundamentaly different actions by the people in this region such as those Lebanese that are defying the Syrians meddling.
This is indeed strong Preassure on Syria from the U.S., and seemingly includes some French backing. President Bush is clearly using the momentum of a
decent outcome for the Iraqi election and now the people of Lebanon standing for themselves to continue to exert policy changes in the region.
It remains to be seen how Syria will react to this new preassure.
