I said conduct, not speech.

My speech is part of my public conduct in that example. You don't really stand for unrestricted free speech in any of your incarnations, it's just a talking point.

You made it clear you are for restricting speech if someone behaved in the manner I outlined.

Your self-proclaimed belief in the constitution is as malleable and as silly as silly putty. You exposed yourself on that one.

I am for restricting conduct if it interferes with the freedom of others. Do you have any principles you can refer to when the law doesn’t give you what you want? Or do you still need the government to teach you right and wrong?

Right, you're for restricted free speech since unrestricted free speech can never be a reality.

It took me awhile, and many of your accounts, to finally extract that little nugget but I'm glad I did.

Your free speech stops at your property line. Forcing your neighbor to listen to your noise is disturbing the peace. Calling people names and intimidating them when they are on their own property is harassment. "Free speech" means that the Federal government cannot make a law abridging your right to speak IN A PUBLIC FORUM. I don't see a public forum here. Your claim is nothing more than hyperbole.

Its SO common for people to not even know what the 1st Amendment says or means. Its embarrassing to me as an American that so many fellow Americans are confused by Freedom of Speech.

The other aspect I hear a lot lately is people talking about "freedom of speech is dead" because people get "shamed" for saying certain things. Woukdn't that actually be doubling down on freedom of speech being very much alive?!

your freedom of speech ends were my ( Or her peace of mind begins )
The right of free speech comes with the responsibility of SELF censoring .
people who say OOO i can call you a a## or say FU and to bad its free speech need a good a%% kicking

lol Until it happens to you.

Scenario...

A wire fence (hurricane or other) is not far from your house, say 10 foot property line between that side of the house and the fence. You're in your living room and you're neighbor is outside walking their dog and just happen to be close enough to the fence to hear the following words coming from your lips WHILE you're sitting in your own living room....

"That PoS - SOB next door lets his dog $#!^ in my yard one more time, I'm going to %@#& him up!!!

Your neighbor is furious. He doesn't know if it's himself you're referring to or the neighbor on the other side of you. However, he's standing there with a dog leash in his hand and feels like you're talking about him.

He calls the law to complain. They come by and put you in silver cuffs for disturbing the peace or whatever law that might apply. Vulgar language (in some states). Whatever.

How would you feel then?

Your own porch is an extension of your property. Your living room may have thin walls. What if you lived in an apartment? You could have been just goofing off to yourself by making up lyrics that someone took offence by.

Hell.... That fella's neighbor must have been a all those things he called her for him to feel that way and write a song.

Don't care how you look at it, it's free speech. The only way it's not is when you slander someone. That's WAY different. That's a whole new can of worms.

I can call you an Ahole all day long and there is nothing you can do about it without violence and retaliating with words. I can flip off an officer or the law, a judge outside a courtroom, any military person of any rank, the PotUSA and not even a slap on the wrist. Why?

Freedom of speech. Either that fella gets off scott free or there is some corruption going on. The supreme court would stand with him.

Well I imagine disturbing the peace by playing your music too loud is a thing everywhere.

Yes, exactly. I think the OP is trolling. Making a public nuisance is not the same as "free speech".

No.. I don't troll. I only post or respond to things I have an interest in. I honestly believe that this person was falsely charged for a crime he did not commit.

No where in the post did it say he was playing an ACOUSTIC Guitar loudly. It just said he was on his front porch playing his acoustic guitar.
