USA were helping Britain well before they declared war on thev Nazis They were backing Britain and Russia against the Nazis by supplying weaponry

Yes as you say America supplied Britain. It was a straight forward trade deal

Britain also supplied Russia with Tanks and Aircraft. So not just The US.

You should also look up " Operation Bagration " An offensive launched by The Soviet Union 6 weeks after D Day.

The Soviet Operation dwarfed the manpower and equipment of D Day. This was the start to the end of Nazi Germany.

The Soviet Union inflicted the biggest defeat in German military history by destroying 28 out of 34 divisions of Army Group Centre and completely shattered the German front line

The German army never recovered from the materiel and manpower losses sustained during this time

Sorry ADL just got back from work and out the shower, covered in muck and allum, got a dirty engineering job lol.......................... Yeah thanks for the heads up about the Soviet offensive Bagration, it does sort of ring a bell but not dome the research on the eastern front for a while, saying that it was one heck of a front, just amazed at the scale of the fighting, sort of total war in the east. I have no desire to disrespect the many US people who served in WWII and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

But it has to be said that the majority of American people had no desire to enter the war prior to Pearl Harbour and the subsequent Nazi declaration of war against them.

Yes, the US was helping supply the UK....but at a price.
They charged a lot of money for that aid and added on an exorbitant amount of interest for it.

And at the same time many American companies were funding and supplying Germany too....Prescott Bush and Henry Ford are two who spring immediately to mind.

After The Battle of Britain and the Blitz there was no way Nazi Germany was going to beat the UK and our Commonwealth Allies.
There's probably no way we would have beat them either.

Without the US and Russia we would have probably fought to a stalemate.

We owe the American servicemen who served, fought and paid a terrible price a debt of gratitude....but let's not allow political correctness and spin get in the way of historical fact.

But without USA sending over military aid to us and the onto the Soviets the we would habe been properly screwed as Germany would have ful;l control over everything fro Spai to te border with China, maybe by then that too The USSR depended inotially on our aid and no USSR to do the fighting and that massive Empir really woud have existed. Sure the British Empire in some form would have carried on from Canada but Britain herself at some point in time might well have been pressurised into defeat through strangling the seas and air as the theoretical massive German Empire closed any trade down and bombed our small island into rubble and invaded.

It all came down to who got the nukes maybe in the long run, maybe Germany would have got them first if they had taken asia quickly but it'sd all guesswork really Maybe USA would have nuked everywhere outside the Americas to rid the new world of the warmongering old

If Hitler was serious about invading Britain, he would have done so during the first two years of the war. During that period, Britain was at her weakest. Unlike Germany, Britain had not built it;s military power during the 1930's.

We did in fact know that Hitler did try and invasion of Britain. Germany's defeat at " The Battle Of Britain " put paid to that.

That is when Hitler made his biggest mistake of the war. He turned east against The Soviet Union. That was the beginning of the end for Germany. Hitler was on the whole an incompetent commander.

In May 1941, Rudolph Hess, Hitlers second in command, dropped into Scotland. His mission, to try and negotiate peace with Britain. Hitler knew by then that an invasion of Britain was not possible.

In some ways te English speakig world p;ayed off the Commies against te Nazis. It was almost a trap for both.................... Britain and the US keep out of te action as long as possible and get the two big rivals to destroy each other. Wouldn't surprise if that was the plan for WW2 all along by London and the States

The US made big profits out of sending aid to the UK and Russia.

The American people had no desire to get involved in what they saw as just another European war until Pearl Harbour.
Sure some people in the US government of the day were sympathetic towards the UK but they knew they had very, very little support.

The US passed the lend-lease legislation in March 1941.
The Battle of Britain took place between July and October 1940....before any substantial US aid.

After The Battle of Britain Hitler knew there was no way a German invasion of the UK would succeed.
We had air superiority and I think naval superiority too in The English Channel and North Sea.

I think if Hitler hadn't attacked Russia - a massive mistake - and German hadn't declared war on the US then the UK and Nazi Germany war would have been fought to a stalemate and an uneasy truce agreed.

It was inevitable that at some point Germany and Russia would have went to war.

If anything the US helped prevent the whole of continental Europe talking Russian.

I found that discussion absolutely fascinating. History is very interesting thing.

But I'm bumping to go back on topic and to also ask if Boris Johnson being the New Prime Minister of the UK has any impact on the Brexit Party?

TO ME it seems this will both hurt and help them. It will help them to achieve the goal of Brexit, but if Prime Minister Boris Johnson is able to get the UK out of the European Union and achieve Brexit finally, the Brexit Party itself will simply cease any relevancy.
