If my daughter brought home a potential spouse and he wanted to go to an Easter Egg hunt I'd have to have a talk to her about separating the men from boys.

This next Fall, when the state fair is near wherever you are, ride some of the rides. This weekend, watch a cartoon on Saturday morning while eating a bowl of Cap'n Crunch. Spend a couple of bucks on a yo-yo for yourself next time you're at Target.

I feel like most adults are not really maturing like we did in the past.

I agree, but not for reasons like you're grousing about. There's a world of difference between being immature where responsibilities are concerned and acting like a kid when you're having fun and playing around in your free time. We don't need to have sticks jammed up our asses 24/7 once we magically reach "adulthood."

Exactly. They could even watch PewDiePie or someone else called T-Series if they want to and I wouldn't judge them.

I agree that most adults enjoy stuff like Easter egg hunts and coloring and stuff, but do you know where traditionally most adults indulge in those things?

With their kids, and the experience is made richer for us as we relive our childhood memories and experience it through our children's eyes even as we indulge again in the simple fun.

It's a sad commentary on things that we have to arrange special ones for adults because so few adults are having children to be able to re-enjoy those pleasures the usual way.

These aren't new. I went to one 10 years ago or so. There was lots of alcohol, BBQ, and prizes based on numbers inside of your eggs.

I didn't win anything, drank way too much, and vomited. Would do again.

You get it. This is exactly what I was trying to say.

I immediately thought “this must be here in Brooklyn,” but it’s MA.

That was fun. It was great watching them struggle.

I hope you've been evaluated sometime during the intervening years /sarc

Behind closed doors. Wearing my wife's lingerie. And eyeliner.

letting their hair down and having a little bit of clean, innocent fun in a shoutback to the simpler days of their youth by hunting for Easter Eggs?

This is the problem that I see. It isn't that adults aren't allowed to have fun. There are a million ways for adults to have fun, many of which are illegal to children. Why can't adults stay in their lane?

Why should they? Fun is fun, if it hurts no one then why should you get to decide who should or shouldn't have any? Should adults stay off the rides at amusement parks, fairs & carnivals now, too? I happen to like the coasters & bumper cars, is this a faux pas to enjoy now?

Easter egg hunts used to be for kids only.

You seem to keep missing mentions of hunts for the elderly. You don't seem to want to address why THAT age group gets a pass.

The joy was adults watching the kids have fun.

Maybe for you if you're apt to park it and pound drinks or something, but I got zero joy out of watching my kids find the hidden goodies out in the yard. I got a big kick out of helping them find the well-hidden or plain sight ones they skipped over, though. Being an idle watcher, on the other hand, is damned boring.

Caveat: We don't normally observe Easter, we've only done this once because they think secular Easter is boring, and the zombie guy angle retarded. So take my non-observing opinion and make of it what you will.

Sometime over the years adults have become more selfish and want "goodies" themselves. I feel like most adults are not really maturing like we did in the past.

Celebration is selfish now. M'kay. Maybe rethink that one when the religious holiday decorations go up later this year.

Look at Christmas, I don't think anyone of a certain age can say that Christmas is better now. It isn't. It is all about presents and all commercialized, and starts sometime in July. There was a time Christmas was really special.

The holiday is what YOU make it, no one else. If it sucks to you now, that's because you made it sucky. YOU changed, not the neighbors, not the relatives. Honestly, some self-reflection is well-warranted, but not regarding the people you think.

If my daughter brought home a potential spouse and he wanted to go to an Easter Egg hunt I'd have to have a talk to her about separating the men from boys.

If you were my mother telling me that, I'd be telling you I'll see again someday at your funeral. That's a degree of bitterness and jealousy baggage no marriage needs from the in-law. And is a HUGE reason why a lot of them get the middle finger and cut out of lives.

Oooh Oooh. Sounds fun, I am officially old enough to be in my second childhood. I may have to get one of those grabby thingamjigs to pick up the eggs without bending down. I might need to have a wheel chair after draining the cash bar of all it's seagrams. We need to start an adult egg hunt around here, I get they would have hundreds of people who would sign up.
