Jericho on Netflix

I just binged watch Jericho on Netflix:



The first season was a little too long with endless scenes of people in denial over the situation. At times I wanted to the people of Jericho to just die for being so stupid. Towards the end the people of Jericho began to realized they were living in the World of Madmax.

The second season was much more interesting from a political perspective. The Cheyenne government is the natural conclusion of outsourcing and privatization of government to corporations. The government was run by corporate policy of governance. Essentially, the people under the Cheyenne government were living under that exact government created in Iraq with all the sub-contractors. It's funny if our own Constitution is not good enough for Iraq why would we expect it to be good enough in our country. The sub-contractors in Cheyenne had absolute authority. Citizens had no rights what-so-ever.

The other interesting thing in the show is the allusion to 9/11 documents predicting 9/11. In the show they show a Halliburton like company's documents describing the locations of the 23 "terrorist" nuke location. The document was supposed to be hypothetical scenario and the response plan but as it turns out was the actually plan used by the corporation to take over the civilian government. And the nukes that killed 20 million people were done as a false flag attack. And the Halliburton like company swooped in with all the chaos and took over power in a Hegelian dialectic type fashion.

False Flags And The Hegelian Dialectic

Jericho is your basic fear-porn and really delivers. After watching both seasons I wanted to start prepping for the coming apocalypse. The feeling of the show lingers for a long after watching it. So if you are into this king of thing I recommend it. Good entertainment.

That's the beauty of Netflix. You can binge on old shows like watching a long movie.

I love Jericho! I have both seasons on DVD- the kids bought them for me when they were finally released years ago. I was so sad when the show was cancelled! So many unanswered questions... I guess we were lucky to get a short, second season thanks to the fans raising such a ruckus when it was cancelled after Season 1.

They did a short graphic novel run for a "season 3" from IDW, was pretty good as well. It's a real shame, right as the show was getting really good, they decide to up and cancel it.

Yeah, what I liked best about the second season was seeing how Americans would react to living under an Iraq-occupation type government with sub-contractors running the show.

Me or them. Sorry if my commentary ruined the show for you.

Really loved the cast too, Gerald McRaney as the mayor was really good. I know he kinda gave off a good ol' boy vibe, but heck if I lived in a small town I'd want a guy like that for mayor. The relationship between Eric and Mary was pretty good as well, I mean you think Eric is kind of an arse for behaving like he does, but it's something you could see actually happening. Emily's dad brought an interesting small town dynamic with the whole wrong side of the tracks thing. Mixed feelings about Dale myself, but oh well.

It's just one of those things that you would hope if you lived in a small town somewhere that people would come together like that and help one another. Think I'm gonna go back and re-watch that and re-read the graphic novels.
