Rockets fired at Tel Aviv, triggering air raid sirens

Two rockets were fired at the Israeli city of Tel Aviv Thursday night, triggering air raid warning sirens, the country's military said.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed in a Hebrew-language tweet that two rockets were fired into Israeli territory from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip. Israeli media initially reported that one of the rockets was intercepted by the country's Iron Dome missile defense system. However, the IDF later said neither of the rockets was, adding that they landed in the sea or on open land.

Glad no one was hurt. TV news in Israel said they were Iranian Fajr rockets according to an anonymous military source.

According to Brig. Gen. Ronen Manelis, there was no warning of an attack. Israel is trying to find out who fired the rockets. The Hamas rulers of Gaza are always held responsible for any rockets fired from their territory.

It is a pretty good bet that Israel is going to retaliate. I hope this does not turn into another war.

If this were true you would think Iran would be providing some kind of proof and at least Hamas would be denying the attack.

It would be interesting if some independent 3rd party would actually be able to confirm the source of these very very harmful attacks against the tribe. Has anyone on the tribes side suffered casualties of these so called attacks? How is the body count in retaliation?

Maybe we should put the border back to 1948 terms, create a 5 mile wide no go zone around said border and punish severely any encroachment on the border, from both sides.

This is the first time since 2014 a rocket has hit Tel Aviv. It is rare and really upsets Israel when it happens. I would expect a harsh response form Israel.

These are rockets. Even empty of payload they are deadly.

The idea that Israel would sneak into another country and fire ordinance back at themselves is fairly dumb.

I'm sure that they don't have to do something so incredibly stupid and likely to fail against them spectacularly, to get the public "on their side".

In previous attacks, the rockets were clearly not of Israeli manufacture and we know that the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah use civilians as human shields, launching from schools and hospitals.

It's not without some merit though. I mean, it was mossad that helped build Hamas to counter PLA(or was it PLO?) In the seventies or eighties I believe.

Maybe the iaf has to spend ordnance in order to justify next years budget allocation.
