Sad news to hear.

When my schedule allows, I'm a religious watcher of Jeopardy!.

The diagnosis is not good and survival rates are extremely low. Trebek was to host Jeopardy! for another 3 years and then hang 'em up.

Prayers with Alex and the Trebek family.

I met him 2 years ago on a Turner Classic Movies cruise, where he was a celebrity guest and would host Q & A sessions, and even hosted Bingo for the guests!

Me and my family got quite a rise out of him. He would crack some racy/suggestive jokes, which is something that surprised me, but it was all in good fun (and I liked him even more as a result of this trait...).

Thinking of Mr. Trebek and his family...

Noooo! I love Alex, that's horrible news. Chances are slim but I wish him the best how ever it goes. I've been a fan of jeopardy for as long as I can remember, I used to watch it with my grandma all the time and it was very rare that she didnt know the answer.

Stage 4 is not a good diagnosis at all.

I wish him the best nevertheless.

Thats horrible news, that's what my Dad had stage 4 pancreatic, he fought it for 3 years till he finally passed. Prayers to him and his family hopefully they have new treatments and he responds well to it.

Man, we used to watch Jeopardy! all the time.

Sad news, doesn't sound like there will be a good outcome....and not a pleasant way to go?

He recently had some other health issues, no?

Was just having a conversation with family about how the man doesn't look like he's aged in 30 years.

A staple of evening television for decades, he will have lots of good vibes directed at him.

3-5 months median survival rate. He only has a few weeks.

He is not going to give up, he is going to try to keep working too. I wonder if he will use the Parsley family chemistry to fight this or if he will use the medicine designed off the parsley family to fight the cancer. Either of them will work, I myself would just boost foods in the parsley family, I like parsley and celery flakes in soups.

I wish him well, he is about seventy eight or nine though, but his health seems pretty good so I think he can live to finish his contract anyway with a little anticancer chemistry.

Bye bye Charlie I'm sorry to say. I love my quiz show hosts, they are quick witted, funny and entertaining.

Non American here but I believe he is a household name, I do remember on the interwebz seeing him describe sonic the hedgehog and one contestant answered 'who is dankey kang?' gamers all around the globe were admitted to hospital with broken noses after face palming too hard.

May his path to Valhalla be peaceful.

Not that this doesn't have a place in whole body medicine and as a preventative, cause believe me my family tried everything including this. Problem is once it gets to a certain stage unless something needs to knock it back significantly, even before his chemo treatments he was having a hard time eating and getting enough nutrients. And chemo is so stressful on the body, my Dad made a brief 3-4 month comeback gained back weight the doctors said he would never get back and the tumor was shrinking. Seriously he went from a low of 139lbs to 164lbs was driving and eating well, then the tumor started growing again switched treatments and it just snowballed on him, lost energy and weight again and one morning had a heart attack and was hospitalized even then hung on another 30 days till he had another heart attack and passed.

What a great anecdote!

From what I catch on the show, he has a great sense of humour (mostly dry) and it eases the tension for the contestants in an anxious, fishbowl environment.

Bonus footage: YouTube his outtakes in the late 80's, early 90's [NSFW].

I linked the timid one.

God speed.

I'll take Vitamin C for 500 Alex.

How long is the contract? If it's anymore then six weeks then that won't be happening.

I think the show should be cancelled after his passing, after all the admiration that has garnered, he sounds irreplaceable, it's almost like trebek and jeopardy are symbiotic.

Rutabagga chemistry is a powerful anti-cancer medicine but it does not work well on pancreatic cancer. here is some research on this, the highest amount of the anticancer chemistry is found in the leaves and Parsley has more than celery. Now this is a plant defense system chemical and with rapid growth, cancer cells absorb it faster than regular cells, so they die while slowly growing cells do not. Here is one of many articles on this subject. Remember though, that when pesticides are used, the plant does not make as much of this anti-cancer chemistry, organic should be better. www.digitaljournal.com...

Lots of veggies have smaller amounts of this chemistry, but the only ones that have adequate amounts to treat cancer is celery leaves, parsley flakes, and others in the parsley family leaves. Celery salt is made from celarian root, that has higher eugenol which is not anticancer. It has a little apigenin and luteolin, but not much. That article says might, but there are other research articles that show it has a very adequate amount of chemistry. But of course, this is stage 4 which might have gone a little too far as you were mentioning, it would be better to get with stage two. www.worldhealth.net...

Oregano is in the parsley family, all parsley family members have varying amounts of apigenin and luteonin but all are probably adequate as long as the herbs are more natural.

Not much as far as side effects either, but remember, some people are allergic to celery, but that is usually in the root and white part at the bottom, it is in the white latex of the cellery, that is usually the euginol that causes that. Also young kids usually have rapidly dividing cells, I think giving them this chemistry might cause some health problems during growth spurts. Maybe not for young kids or teenagers. Alex is not a teenager anymore unless you add the seven and nine of his age together.

What a sad day, I can’t believe he’s going to continue to work. That shows a lot of dedication. I’ve never met him but he always seemed so genuine, I hope the best for him in this stressful time.
