Ambrosia Salad.

Now I bet nobody born after 1975 will know how yuck this is.



Maybe if they kept it sweet it would be OK.

But then they got all fancy and chucked jars of mayonnaise on it.

Does anyone still eat ambrosia salad?

Nope, I've never heard anything about it.

Nowadays a "salad" should be mainly green.

Back then they thought it should be creamy white.

Now wash behind your ears.

You don't want to look all untidy when that nice man comes, and tells you all about how great the army and Vietnam is.

And a slice of pineapple between every slice of ham.

Some cherries.

I've got "Ambrosia" in my kitchen cupboard now- their tins of custard and their tins of rice pudding. Would either of those make a good salad?

Those pastel marshmallows are awful...

Now my gramma made something called Watergate salad and that was awesome.

One small package of pistachio instant pudding.
One can pineapple chunks, drained.
One tub cool whip, thawed.
Add mini marshmallows "white"

Just mix it all together and chill...

My mom makes Watergate salad and watergate cake.
The cake is pretty good.

Some of the salads like that are really good. Someone always seems to bring a bowl of it to pot lucks. It makes a great desert. There is no mayo in that kind of salad, it has real whip cream in it sometimes, but most people now use cool whip.

I'm not one for sweets, but when I'm in the mood that is a good one.

Always makes me feel like a crook after eating it though.
