The proposal marks the Massachusetts Democrat's second major policy outline to be unveiled this year as she competes for the 2020 Democratic nomination. Last month, Warren released a "wealth tax" plan aimed at the most affluent Americans whose net worth exceeds $50 million.

Networth Not income.

Warren is one of the vile, most EVIL persons in this country.

Yep, so anyone with a paper value of $50m but not cash rich will have to start liquidating assets to pay for lazt people.
Now Warren has gon a step further - a 7% tax to pay for free stuff for people earning under $50000!

She's a complete fool - a dangerous one that will destroy America completely if she is given the chance. It will take about 2-3 years of mass exodus from the USA and for the money to run out. Then riots and starvation.

They really don't get that monumental difference.

So, tax the rich for health care, tax the rich for child care, tax the rich for guaranteed income, tax the rich for retirement, tax the rich for free college, tax the rich to pay the national debt.

I may be just a dumb right wing nut job, but this seems like a loosing plan.

If i was an educated worldly liberal i guess id get it better.

That is their plan.

Of course it's worked out so well in those progressive utopias where the rich just leave.

How would you go about incentivizing couples to have children? Genuinely curious, as I have a no child ever policy in my household. Just want to see what people would think to try and offer those who do not have children.

Sorry, I avoid the cost of childcare by not having children. Can't afford it? Don't have kids. Not my responsibility to cover for your mistakes that you can't afford.

you wouldn't happen to vote would you?

Locally and for my reps etc. as a rule, however this next election cycle may change that. Not sure what one has to do with the other in this case.

How come the solution to everything is more taxes. Don't be naive and think it just stops at the wealthy

It is yet another way to split the electorate.
Those with children and those without.

This is almost as bad as forcing companies to pay people who wish to stay home with their babies... but let's not talk about that here. I'm sure one of you will eventually make a thread about it.

We have more important issues than childcare costs to deal with in this country. There are a lot of grandparents that will take care of kids, yet the young do not feel the grandparents should be bothered. Society has been conditioned to bring kids to a daycare center, a regular cheap baby sitter is not good enough anymore. My youngest daughter went to patsy's house when she was young, for a buck an hour, she added my daughter to her family. We gave a bonus for food sometimes, she even taught my daughter how to cook things since the wife and I were both working, My daughter was out shoveling the path with the other kids too, she learned way more than if she was in a daycare center. Did my daughter read there? I doubt it, she did her homework after she got there so she did not have to do it at home some times. I taught my youngest daughter to read starting at a year old, I also started teaching her how to count and add, how to make change for a buck was taught around three years old. I spent a lot of time combatting societies conditioning of kids to blow money on things, schools are constantly convincing kids they need to do things that cost money. That is social programming, I am sure many daycare centers also promote society programming.

I know people who own daycare centers, the rules are crazy, I would much prefer just having a friend watch over my kid and throw a few bucks their way. But the government wants the people making money babysitting to pay taxes and have to buy all sorts of things for their business to boost the economy. I wasn't born yesterday, I know all about how that works. Car seats are always being upgraded by people who believe that new and expensive ones are more safe. They are a little nuts, the ones at that WIC supplies are safe and also cheap. These rating companies are stimulating the economy with wasteful spending, people are passing around BS about safety. First of all, just watch your driving better, that expensive seat with great safety ratings is not needed if you never get in an accident, put away the cell phone and pay attention to the road.

Sorry if I am getting carried away with examples.....this warren woman is full of crap. Just find someone who is a decent person to take care of your kid while your out, look to your relatives if they are sane. Do a thorough check on the people working in daycares yourself, look for temper issues and ignorance issues. Just because they are licensed means nothing.

Oh I'm not naive, nor do I think this will stick with the ultrarich. In the end it will be middle class paying for just about everything.

I think I paid out $1,200 a month for childcare for a few years. It's real expensive.

And also something to ponder. Americans are having less children. There was a post here on ATS about how we will be losing population due to people not having enough children. Probably because of the cost of having them.

Great idea, pea brain Warran.

Lets make all the "rich people" leave the country for somewhere else - their money included. You won't get any of it then...

The only reason normal folks keep any money in this country as it is is precisely what idiots like Warren is targeting. Their money, their property, their investments, their businesses will all move somewhere else. A country that is more corporation/successful person friendly.

Bingo

Just because they are licensed means nothing.

They sure love the fallacy "Appeal to authority" - saves them from having to give a real answer.

Sad part is, those in "authority" are just about as intelligent as the average non-showering socialist clown. (Demonstrably low intelligence)

Precisely
Those who can't afford these things should not be having children until they are ready. That is the responsible thing to do unlike all these sleazy pop culture Hollyweird worshipers.

Though generally I like her, Warren, a multimillionaire is hardly qualified to talk about subsidies to the poor. She could subsidize the poor in her area all by herself. Yet she hoards that money. Why? Well it's a capitalistic society and she (allegedly) earned that money, not them. Let's ask her how many families she subsidizes? You can probably guess the answer.

I think there is something to be said about the elite 1% and taxing them more... I believe in capitalism, but if the wage gap widens, then shouldn't the ultra wealthy put more in to help society?

It's not a feudal system, right?

I think maybe the grandparents feel the grandparents shoudn't be bothered. We raised the kids. Now we have to raise the kids' kids? I don't think so. Take care of your own kids.

And they wonder why society's best and brightest don't have any kids. The only ones who do are the ones who get constant handouts and subsidies to pay for theirs.

Well, duh, it's because none of us have any help paying for our kids, but we all have to pay hand over fist extra in taxes for everyone who wants kids but can't afford them!

So all the smartest people, make the smart choice and don't have children, and society ends up overburdened with the kids of the poorest and least able.
