When seeing is no longer believing
Inside the Pentagon’s race against deepfake videos
Advances in artificial intelligence could soon make creating convincing fake audio and video – known as “deepfakes” – relatively easy. Making a person appear to say or do something they did not has the potential to take the war of disinformation to a whole new level. Scroll down for more on deepfakes and what the US government is doing to combat them.

Deepfakes

Now I don't usually prefer posting CNN, but this article is actually really intriguing, and touches on a subject perfect for our collective minds to ponder.

Granted this isn't exactly new material, it is being discussed, but with what intention?

Are they exposing the potential issues, or creating doubt?

You can bet there will be one about Trump during the 2020 campaign.

Sounds more like yet another 'arms race' they started where then they use the guise of 'combating' it to further proliferate their own 'forward projection' capabilities.

Haven't trusted pics in a long time now I can't rely on audio or video now.

And soon they will just implant and erase memories.

Mark my words.

We're going to get screwed sooner than you think.

It's getting to the point where people are going to need some kind of 'totem' when they appear on video, so people will know it's really them (sort of like Inception). Maybe using a different one each time, or something?

Maybe not everyone, but there's a few people who would benefit from something like that.

You can tell when a politician is a deep fake.

They are talking and their mouth is moving.

Deepfakes and lasers beaming messages into our minds, where everyone might hear a different message. Or possibly see different images...

Yes, definitely creating doubts.
