Nothing about the two abductees screams "Hoax!"
On the contary, during the infamous secret police recording, Hickson's anxiety and even underlying anger is palpable when he says that he has been
through all kinds of Hell in his life (had he fought in Vietnam?)... and now THIS.
The aliens seem like laughably low-budget 1950s Sci-Fi creations, but the sheer bizarre nature of the story and believability of the witnesses
overrides this, especially the fact that Parker was unconscious throughout the incident - although his recollections are minimal in comparison to
Hickson, his shock at the sight of a door opening in the craft is well telegraphed during the secret recording.
Three major abduction cases within three years (this, Walton, and the 1976 Kentucky abduction of three women) is quite an abduction 'flap' after a
scarcity of them since the 1961 Hill case. At least as far as media attention is concerned.
