For the life of me u can't remember what they were calling these devices it was either

Canada line or Canada reel ..something like that.

That had claimed amazing effects, does this sound familiar to anyone?

They were handheld and used as anti personnel or anti material equipment.

Why would Army Rangers have these?

As a tagalong to this thread, I have a question for Army rangers too!

Was "Mad Dog" really a ranger?
(Mad Dog is a guy that begs for money on interstate exits near Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, in North Carolina.)

Allegedly, he lost his legs in Afghanistan while carrying a fellow ranger through a mine field.

I've always wanted to know if his story is legit. He's a really cool guy and he dances and performs and stuff with like an Iron Man mask and flags that he spins around. A really awesome beggar, actually putting on a show for drivers, unlike most.

(I saw him play "air guitar" with an american flag while wearing the iron man mask, I wish I had recorded it, dude is awesome.)

We’re they shoulder fired? Anti-material weapons I can think of that the rangers use would be the Carl Gustav, Barret M107, Mk 19/47 40mm grenade launcher, AT4, MGL, Bangalor torpedo, LAW, TAC-338. Is this a modern weapons system or been around for a while?

It was this guys story,

We were staying in the v.A together as 'neighbors' healing up and we were sharing stories, and he was 100% is he said he was so maybe he was just pulling my leg.

As to my typing you'll have to excuse me until my lap top is back from the shop, my fingers are meater then who the target demographics that use them are

Any chance it had Swedish in the name and not Canada? A long shot but that would point towards the M3 Carl Gustaf/RAWS. Otherwise must be some secret squirrel type gear. I’ll see if I can’t ask some buddies in the 75th.

Deff not the M3 and he told me about it in hushed tones so I'm sure it's something not widely known about.

He was a good and honest guy so I don't think he was making up stories and really only opened up to me when he knew I knew about a crew and aircraft he hitched a ride with.

People tend to open up to medics and other medical types i.e field docs or PJ's or even just unit level medics.

We also spent like 13 days hanging out, and when you are in a v.A hospital more often then not you are around like minded people with similar interests and experience

I wish I could be 100% of what the name was, it sounded like a pretty amazing bit of kit.

I wasn’t doubting you or his story just was taking my head to figure out what it could be.

Are you sure your not mistaken for the Army’s new NVG? It’s coaxed wirelessly into the weapons sight, basically allowing you a heads up display of your target while looking in another direction. Being tested now, usually new items are tested by the special forces first.

ok - having re read the entire thread . and despite the OP best efforts to avoid clarity

i may have an possible answer :

weapons grade bat crap

it is kind of a " sport " to attempt to pass off ficticious tails of deployments , training , equipment issies etc to " other units " - and sit back and wait for the lie to be repeated back to formation where it was spawned as FACT

there is probally someone sitting " somewhere " wearing US ranger " tags - laughing thier arse of because the tail of the d" canadian death widget " has been discussed on ATS
