Christmas market attacker 'neutralised'

French police have cornered and killed Christmas market gunman Cherif Chekkat. +1 for the good guys.

Cherif Chekatt killed three and injured another 13 people at a Christmas market in the French city of Strasbourg on Tuesday.

The news from police in the French city of Strasbourg comes just minutes after reports of at least three shots were heard in the La Meinau district of the city.
A Reuters witness said that a police helicopter had also been seen hovering overhead.

Seems like a waste of justice and lazy police work to me.

They should of done much more to ensure that he survived, so he could be forced to live out the rest of his natural life incarcerated... That would be true justice.

All they did was give him the easy way out... imo.

Little story about an austrian reporterfrom ORF, Peter Fritz, who was on-side in Strasbourg, when the attack happened. Saw him giving an interview in the german tv. He reports that he and others tried to save the life of the thai, who later died from a headshot wound. They tried to save his life for 45 minutes. He said that police was on-side in minutes, but no paramedics, no ambulance, no doc, nothing. He thinks that they simply didn´t let paramedics/ambulances pass, to maybe save the life of the man.

Unter den Toten ist ein Tourist aus Thailand, der nur wenige Stunden zuvor in Straßburg eingetroffen war. Medienberichten zufolge starb er an einem Kopfschuss. Fritz schilderte, wie er und andere Zeugen versucht hätten, dem Mann Erste Hilfe zu leisten. Nach 45 Minuten hätten sie die Wiederbelebungsversuche eingestellt, nachdem ein per Telefon verbundener Arzt ihnen mitgeteilt habe, dass es keinen Sinn mehr habe. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt seien keine offiziellen medizinischen Helfer zum Anschlagsort gekommen. „Die Polizei war sofort da, aber offenbar hat man Rettungskräfte gar nicht in die Nähe gelassen“, so Fritz.
